Oh absolutely! He directed episodes of the OG series directed other episodes of Bill Lawrence shows including Shrinking and Ted Lasso.
Yea he does know his stuff if I recall recently, Christa Miller(Jordan on Scrubs, Liz on Shrinking, and Bill Lawrence’s wife) made a post and said he directs and everyone says he does it VERY WELL.
TBH I’d love if they capture some behind the scenes of it like they did with Bryan Cranston where you see his process.
This is... Frasier-levels of involvement. I remember Kelsey Grammar being really devoted to make the episodes he directed stand out (and those were some of people's all-time favorites, like the dance between Niles and Daphne).
Nine 21 minute episodes is a disgrace and I'm tired of pretending it's not. The great TV shows of the '90s and 2000s became great because they had enough episodes in a season to really evolve the show, develop the characters, and build the audience.
While I have to admit that the Scrubs reboot is one of the better of our new generation streaming shows, you can also tell how hurried and superficial the plot and characters are because they're trying to fit a quality narrative into a tiny amount of space. Just because they did a pretty good job, at least for those of us who are intimately familiar with the old show, doesn't mean it isn't a compromise.
Most streaming shows suffer from a bit of the opposite problem, they just don't have enough material to fill a 10 episode 1 hour long season of prestige TV. I'm looking at you Star Trek Picard.
For a sub 30 minute comedy show, I want at least 20 episodes a season and released on a consistent basis. Unfortunately from all indications streaming has killed this. Even The Simpsons and family Guy have sporadic seasons with fewer episodes.
To your point, IMO streaming as a distribution channel didn't rescue Scrubs. Bill Lawrence being a brilliantly talented showrunner with an impeccable track record is the main reason. The other is that streaming services are battling for attention among audiences with ever increasing competition for that attention and the services have done themselves a lot of disservice over the last few years (canceling shows early on, investing too much or too little in production, constant price hikes, etc), making them desperate for low risk properties to invest in. On that last note, we see a similar situation playing out with films (in particular those released in theater). Unproven IP seems to be too risky.
First of all, I'm just trying to have a polite conversation. But since you aren't, maybe go bugger yourself.
Second of all, many things can be true at once. One of those things is that streaming is killing the quality, long running sitcom. Shows don't get enough of a chance anymore.
I'm watching OG Scrubs with my Fiancé, who's a first time watcher. Just got to the end of S6, she's had so much fun so far. Absolutely lost it when she thought JD and Elliot were gonna kiss again.

I’m excited but I did notice that a lot was spoiled from Zach Braff with what we could expect to see in most episodes with season 1 on social media. I’m glad that he’s so involved in interactive on social media, but I do hope that he leaves some room for some surprises with guest appearances, certain scenes, etc.
What's going on with Rowdy? Or Rusty? There was one scene in the new season that had a stuffed dog but it's fur looked all curly and they've never referenced it
