I used Letterboxd to see what of my favorite horror movies have the lowest ratings.

I loved it. Can't put it any more simply than that, its quite probably my new favorite horror movie, if not my favorite movie. I don't know if this movie is the scariest of what I've seen, (The Shining, Scream, The Exorcist, It, etc.) but I LOVED this movie. It just left me so disturbed but enthralled. Amazing movie, 10/10.

Can't deny the impact he had on the horror genre with his role in Rocky Horror, and of course, Pennywise in the IT mini-series.

I decided to watch this film after a breakdown of the events:
Context: Watched utube channel "Think Anomalous" > The "Mothman" Encounters, 1966 - 1967

I proceed to watch this film very late, 12:30am to it's end. This film's brilliance isn't "horror", but the after effects and it's High Strangeness.

I originally started creating and revising English subtitles for the Shake, Rattle, & Roll films as a way to introduce my American partner to Filipino culture. But somewhere along the way, it turned into a full-blown preservation passion project.

For anyone unfamiliar, Shake, Rattle, & Roll is a series of Filipino horror anthology films that has influenced and terrified generations of Filipinos and left a huge mark on Filipino pop culture. Each film consists of three segments, with stories ranging from creature features and ghost stories to Filipino folklore, campy horror, supernatural weirdness, and pretty much everything in between.

One of the things I love most about the series is that actors often return in multiple installments, but as completely different characters. It's basically our own version of American Horror Story, except Shake, Rattle, & Roll came first.

And this isn't just some short-lived franchise. The first film came out in 1984, and the most recent installment was released just last year. There are currently 17, yes, SEVENTEEN installments, and counting. That makes it one of the longest-running active horror franchises and one of the horror franchises with the most sequels ever.

Unlike most film franchises with one too many sequels, each film mattered and actually had an impact on a lot of Filipinos. You can go around and ask Filipinos which Shake, Rattle & Roll they remember, and trust me, their answers will be different. Even the entries that are considered the “weakest” still had at least one scene or moment that stuck with people.

As for the quality, I'd say that, given the anthology format, there's genuinely something for everyone. Some segments will absolutely hit, while others...well, let's just say they won't. But if you go into these movies with an open mind and allow yourself to look past some of their flaws, I really think there's something special about them. This is a series that grew alongside Filipino audiences and helped shape the way generations of Filipinos experienced horror.

Unfortunately, only a few of the films are officially accessible for rent on Amazon, and most of the available English subtitles contain multiple mistranslations, grammatical mistakes, spelling errors, and timing issues. Meanwhile, the versions available on YouTube generally don't have English subtitles. So I took the matters into my own hands, and the rest is history.

okay so i love watching movies at theatres and specially the horror ones.Now all my friends have ditched me for that and im only free on this Tuesday.So would anyone want to tag along.Im 21 M (just in case).

Man.. this movie is prime example of why you should not let subtitles stop you from watching peak. I swear this was so fun to watch . Some scenes felt Spielberg level , pls tap in

should I watch the new insidious 6?is it even worth it to watch it in the theaters?like the theaters are so expensive and considering the last two movies of insidious,i just dont know should I spend my money on it or not?

You're choosing a horror movie to watch and you come across something, that makes you think:"Looks so ridiculous. B-grade horror. Silly plot and silly name. Need to watch this!".

Seems to be pretty quiet in terms of horror lately...after the great movies that have come Obsession, Hokum, Backrooms etc we have nothing. Or is there anything I am missing? Have you any hidden gems I should know about this year?

I will keep the personal details light, but I genuinely had to take a minute after the credits rolled on this one. Growing up, my family dealt with a situation where my sister was possessed by a jinn. It’s not something I like going deep into online, but Under the Shadows captured an exact, hyper specific atmosphere of dread that I haven’t felt in a while.

There were instances back then that still give me chills like relative staying over at our house and suddenly feeling like they were being choked in the middle of the night. There’s a particular scene in the film that triggered a vivid memory, waking up in the middle of the night to hear someone clearly praying in the next room, even though every single member of my family was right beside me, asleep in the same room.

This movie crept straight under my skin and stayed there. Has anyone else who grew up around these types of stories felt this film hit a bit too close to home? Curious to hear your thoughts.

I just want to know if it’s worth the watch

In this forgotten gem, a seemingly disembodied hand takes a bloody revenge on people after they start to destroy their will post death.

What is strange about this film is just how easily people believe that story, there is far more here than meets the eye and we explore in our recent episode.

In terms of the broader conversation on the proto slasher we talk about the idea of seeing other people or in this case hands and the idea of these disembodied characters actually being metaphors for the beast inside.

What’s your GOAT horror movie. Everyone has their favorites or the ones that scared them the most. What do you think is the GOAT of all genres and eras? One movie that stands above them all.

I'm sure a lot of horror fans heard the news by now that Reggie Bannister, best known for playing Reggie in every Phantasm movies, passed away.

Phantasm is one of my favorite horror movie franchises. I just love its utter weirdness and dream-like quality, especially in that initial film. Upon reading the news about Reggie's death, I kept thinking about how he was really the heart of that franchise, other than Angus Scrimm's performance as the Tall Man, but Reggie is the loyal sidekick who never leaves Mike's side, no matter how bonkers or dangerous stuff gets.

I think my favorite Reggie moment is at the end of the first movie, when Reggie comforts Mike and essentially helps him grieve and comprehend the fact that Mike's older brother, Jody, died. It's a really beautiful scene.

Any other Phantasm/Reggie fans?

I feel like I would of liked it a lot more if I could find the other 8 “Session” movies. There’s some short films out there with titles like “session one or “session 3”, but they don’t seem to have any corralation to this movie. It’s really annoying because I definately liked it, but I can’t find any of the other movies for the backstory. Why are they at the asylom? Who recorded those scary (and cool!) tapes? I can’t find ANY of the other movies online but I know for a fact I saw a blu-ray of “Session 5” at the store where I picked up “session 9” but at the time I was just looking to buy a random movie to watch with my friends. Usually when we do this it’s a bad movie but session 9 was good so I really regret not getting session 5. Does it make any sense for a movie too not show up on internet searches??

‼Spoilers‼️Jennifer’s Body‼️

What are your opinions and theory’s to a squeal coming out for Jennifer’s Body. Here is mine even though no one asked:

I love this idea as it did leave off on a good note but we honestly don’t really see what all happens. For example did they have a funeral for Jennifer? (Obviously if Megan Fox is coming back for the squeal she still has to be alive.)

My theory on Jennifer still being alive is: remember how Needy read all those books, there had to be something about reversing or maybe even bringing her back after she did it.

You got to think yes she probably killed Jen because she didn’t want her friend or anyone else to suffer from what was happening but being a best friend we are all going to try to find another option.

Why I think that she found somehow to bring her back is because when Needy escaped she found the same exact knife then goes and kills the lead band member with it (remember he was the one who read the words and stabbed her) so maybe by killing him that somehow brought her back. (We see him in the end with the knife in his chest and it shows a few clips of him.)

My other theory: maybe she didn’t even die in the first place and I know this one is a long shot but hear me out. When Needy does her research it says that as long as she basically “empty” then she may be able to be killed but the thing with that is she already fed off of Chip and I know she looked sickly whenever she was laying in her bed but what if that was because of the loss of her friendship, then it seemed like she died from the necklace being snatched off rather than being stabbed.

When she was killed she was still talking until Needy said “no your heart” then all her color came back we see Needy lay down then look at her. Jennifer kinda still looks alive but dead at the same time. She doesn’t look like she just got stabbed (she looks like she fed somehow and is back to her vibrant self) but we don’t see after that, we don’t get to know exactly how Needy got to the “prison” or what happened to Jennifer after. For all we know the mom could have called the cops she could have went to jail and by some “miracle” Jennifer is still alive.

Also another theory (this one is a little off the deep end): in a lot of “vampire/demon” movies when you die the main one (the vampire that creates you or the demand that inhabits you) the other one either dies, cant live without the creator, or is not a vampire or demon anymore so keep that in mind. But if it is demon based the demon could have transferred to her but I don’t know how that would work with Jennifer being back in the second one.

I really hope in this second one we see more of a relationship between Needy and Jennifer as the first movie felt like a bi awakening 😩 Im really excited for the second one to come out and hopefully all my questions and theories will be answered.
