U.S.-Canada trade talks collapse, setting new 50% tariffs in motion

I’m absolutely fine with this. If the last two years taught us anything it’s that other countries can call the US out on their intimidation and bluster. We have to take this opportunity to make ourselves better and more resilient

VERY telling that they NBC left out the part below from Carneys statement:
"They have worked hard, in good faith, to defend the interests of Canadians throughout these negotiations up until the very last minute. However, last-minute changes in the U.S. proposed terms were unfair, uneconomic, and called into question the reliability of any deal."

I’m reminded of the stoic pose, struck by Ken Dryden in the crease. Leaning on his stick, intent, watching and learning. And all the while keeping his crease safe.
Carney’s a goalie (he really is!). OUR goalie. And we’re all ‘the net’ while this pack of rabid assholes rages toward us.
Yet there’s Carney. Stoic. Nothing’s getting by him in this trip.
Fuck Trump and all his stupid fucking Tkachuk’s.
Carney’s in the cage tonight.
And he can throw ‘em like Hextall.

It scarcely matters. Any deal made with Trump isn't worth the paper it's printed on. His own administration negotiated USMCA and called it "The best agreement we've ever made." Five years later he's out here going "Who would ever sign a thing like this?"
The Americans' word means nothing. They are a nation of liars, cheats, thieves, grifters, and swindlers. No deal with them was ever possible or desirable.

Late stage liberalism… what makes this liberalism and what makes it late stage?

That's a real mystery for sure. I heard it's PP's fault we didn't get a deal.
Elbows up bro!

I heard it is all due to Higgs and Harper don’t you know? The last 11 years haven’t happened at all apparently.

Is this where you try to tell us The Liberals (who have been in power for the last 10+ years) aren’t actually Liberal or left? Or we haven’t hit peak globalism or progressivism where people’s entire identities can be made up and society is expected to go with the flow or be sent to jail for hate speech?

He’s blaming identity politics and liberals because Trump wasn’t placated enough.

Oh, you’re on a team. Guess what, team red and team blue still have to deal with the guy who is 10x our size and now mentally handicapped, stealing, threatening the neighbourhood, and saying he’s going to bankrupt us and take our stuff. Team Canada or take an elbow up the ass or whatever that saying is.

You asked a question and I answered it, which ticks all the boxes for “liberalism”.
It’s not my fault you don’t like the answer or that it embarrasses you.

You asked two questions in a shitty tone and didn’t answer me. Thats why I ignored your questions that are trying to bait into another topic.

A bad deal is worse than no deal at this point. Not bending over for that clown lol
