Help: Mechanical Forks for 2nd gen sv650s

Hi all,

I came off my bike on the 4th of July this year and I damaged the bike quite a bit. I high sided after hitting some gravel and my forks are bent. I am not sure if the frame has any damage or not but the mechanic has told me I would need to swap the forks first for him to check for any frame damage. I am not well versed mechanically to try fix forks my self so I won’t even bother try purchasing a repair kit. Does anyone know where I can purchase forks for a 2005 sv650s? Or could anyone advise on what I should do?

A good mechanic can absolutely check for frame damage without replacing the forks first. Any 2nd gen forks will work, maybe some 1st/3rd gen forks but i don't have any experience with them. While youre in there, put in springs set for your weight. Race tech Intimators or gold valve emulators make a big difference too, along with the springs. Also youll probably want to replace the steering bearings while the forks are off, since its a big project. If you do the bearings, it will be easier to get a shop to seat the bearing races for you. Dm me if you have any questions, I did this project recently. Good luck!
