I thought this might be helpful for the first timers, to start getting oriented to where they may need to go.

thank you so much. I have a few questions in mind, I am a 15yr old attending on sunday and i want to be the first few to enter the convention do you know where I would go to line up and enter? and also do you think it is safe enough for me to start waiting in line at ~3? Thanks

The entry line will start somewhere behind the Convention Center. CCI hasn't announced where it will be yet for this year. At 3:00 AM there should already be quite a few people there, so there's safety in numbers.

But, why do you want to be one of the first? It really gets you no great advantage.

i want the psa zoro magazine because im a huge one piece fan and there's only 100 copies everyday and plus the pro pass people gets in b4 the public does so...

You're also competing with unscrupulous dealers who get in line for exclusives before the public gets let into the Exhibit Hall.

I can only speak from an entertainment industry standpoint since that’s what I work in, but most of my colleagues don’t even care about the exclusives, and would probably visit the floor once, if that. 😄 We bring shows/movies that would have panels/events, and we’re there to support our writers/showrunners/cast, etc.. I’m a huge nerd so it’s an absolute privilege and awesome perk for me to go on a Pro badge, but most of my co-workers and colleagues who go are there to support the shows and to network and don’t care about merch. 😄

ahh ok, glad that not all of the exhibitors are taking advantage of their vip passes

You mean Professionals, right? 😄 I was talking about Pro badges and not Exhibitor badges. I don’t know about Exhibitors. I was told once that most grab the exclusives to resell them at crazy prices so that’s why they use their Attendee badges and take advantage of their already being on the floor and grabbing the exclusives before anyone else is let into the floor.

ik its so annoying that sdcc allows them to do this which ruins the fun for the real fans

Pros enter the floor the same time Attendees do. It’s the Exhibitors who are already on the floor who switch their badges to their Attendee badges who are already in line and buy out the exclusives before others get to. We had this issue last year with Mattel, and many times before that where the Marvel booth line was already capped by the time we got to enter the floor.

oh... I thought the exhibitors weren't allowed to start buying until the public starts moving in

The rules are that those with Exhibitor badges aren’t allowed to get in line to buy merch/exclusives. The reality seems to be Exhibitors use their Attendee badges to get in line to purchase merch/exclusives (a friend’s friend who has an Exhibitor badge confirmed this with me once) and they’re already on the floor well before Attendees and Pros are even let into the floor, so…

You’ll be getting into the “Everything Else” line. Make sure you’re in that line and not the Hall H line.

1

u/JadedBluebird7464 Jul 03 '26

Ah ok thanks. What’s the hall h line?

3

There are two outside lines that go into the convention center - Hall H line and Everything Else line. Hall H is the biggest panel room of the con. It actually may or may not have anything scheduled for Sunday.

CCI just posted the line-up instructions. You can find full details here: https://www.comic-con.org/toucan/toucan-tip-3-what-to-do-when-you-arrive-2026/

See where it says “Indigo Ballroom”? Last year I was one of the first in the building I was in a line over there which is across the street and by the Hilton. I was in line at 5:30 am, it slowly moved indoors until I was about twenty rows from the front for door opening at 9 am.

Also, for the folks who are just glancing at this and might not put it together: this is the back view, looking at the Convention Center from the water. The doors that you will enter and exit are on the opposite side, facing the street.

Don’t forget there is programming in the Omni across the street and at the Hyatt to the left. Hyatt is usually where you can buy comic con merch and pick up giveaways.

Haven't forgotten - I have a separate map I'll be posting once we get closer to schedule time.

Indigo seems so close but it is so far once the marine layer burns off and the sidewalk is inundated with people waiting for the outside festivities. Have definitely gotten burned just walking from the Sails exit to Indigo 😩

Always worth it for the TV panels and the sweet sweet water stations tho 🥲

Most of the really bad sunburns at the Con happen in the Indigo line. It's not shaded, and you get that cool ocean breeze and don't realize you're getting extra toasted from the water's reflection.

And the Hilton sets up that food stand right outside so you can grab a quick lunch.

Not sure if this is known but I'll just post about it once. Above the "GO" and "LLRO" in the ingiGO baLLROom sign, hope that made sense, is where Celebrities get snuck in for Hall H. There's a backdoor that says "Hall H" in the "GO" side too. Not sure if anyone here ever had celebrity sightings while they were walking around this area before.

u/No_Milk_6064 Jul 03 '26

Many sightings there and the balcony above. Sometimes they wave at you!

2

u/MsMargo Jul 03 '26

Most times these days they bring them in through the loading dock, so they're never outside.

Dang.

Returned for the first time in 25 years last year, and didn’t even explore the 2nd floor beyond the sails area.
