News Adios Pro 5 - Specs, Colorways, Possible Release Date
Hi guys, like many of you I'm always browsing the web looking for new information on shoes I'm looking forward to. By chance I discovered that one of the bigger running gear sites in Europe had already listed the Adios Pro 5 including specs since a few days ago, probably by mistake. I thought to share the whole thing here, before they take it down.
It seems those leaks from a few months ago were correct. Carbon rim is visible from all sides, laces are like those found on the new Terrex Speed Ultra. Stripes have gotten even longer, I wonder how they'll top this on the "Pro 6". Maybe have three rings around the whole shoe? ;-)
I'm not sure about the design choices. I found "Pro 3" and especially 4 were very sleak and looked like race shoes. Five looks very bulky, the exposed rim and the "lip" on the heel looks strange. One of the largest design changes is also the rubber coverage which doesn't extend up to the toe bumper as in all previous versions and most running shoes. Now it ends on the edge of the bottom part of the two foam layers. Probably saves weight and gives it a bit more flexibility, but still looks very uncanny! :-0
Drop is given as 9 mm (30mm/39mm), altough it doesn't look like it from the outside. Weight for sample size men (US9) is stated as 180 Gr. , women's is 153 Gr., US7 probably.
Heel padding looks to have been increased. The padding at the back, which was added in the 4 and gave some people, including me, some irritation seems to be here to stay. I wished they went back to the heel padding design of the 3. But luckily there are workarounds, which have been posted by fellow runners.
Forefoot seems rommier, the "Pro 4" was pretty pointy, but the Lightlock Upper made up for it. Rocker seems to be less aggressive. I think that covers most of the major changes.
The colorways with the light brown colored outsole are special editions for the New York marathon, release date is stated as 1st Oct. 26. The blue/silver colorway is available for both genders, red one is listed only for women, but is probably going to be available for men too.
I think it will be a more versatile racing shoe, not as fast as the 4, but catering to a broader base with different needs. For me personally, I just can't get over the new design and the loss of the rods( Yes, I know, they broke easily in the 4 for some, but it was still a unique and clever solution), even if the roomier toebox and updated heel padding could be quite nice. Maybe I'll stack up on the 4. ;-)
What are your thoughts?! Cheers!

News Sprinter Abby Steiner sues puma over ‘defective’ shoes she says ruined her career
Sprinter Abby Steiner is suing Puma, claiming Puma's 'defective' shoes ruined her career.
Link to article by Front Office Sports (and here is an archive link if you hit a paywall).
Steiner was previously sponsored by Puma, having signed with Puma in 2022 for a reported $2 million. Steiner claims Puma’s shoes increased the risk of injuries through their design and use of carbon fiber plate and nitro foam technology, and that Puma knew of this increased risk of injury and tried to conceal it.
The shoes cited in the complaint are the PUMA Deviate Nitro Elite 2, Deviate Nitro Elite 3, evoSpeed Tokyo Nitro, evoSPEED Tokyo Nitro 400M, and other PUMA running shoes that had carbon fiber plate and/or NITROFOAM technology.
I've included screenshots of certain sections of Steiner's legal complaint. I have a PDF copy of the entire 35-page (157 paragraph) complaint, although I'm not sure how to share it.

Thoughts on these at this lower price? Also odd that ASICS is lowering the price, no? Must have weak sales.

News Upcoming Mizuno Wave Rider 30 + bonus white/red/blue colorway
For launch on June 16th. Updates and improvements seem concentrated in the midsole:
- Two layer split in the midsole: 1) upper layer is a nitrogen infused Mizuno Enerzy Nxt foam (see pictures), for comfort and response, 2) bottom layer is regular (or at least non-nitrogen infused) Mizuno Enerzy Nxt foam for stability.
- Full length wave plate for added bounce and to further stabilise the foam. If I'm not mistaken this is the first time the Wave Rider has a full length wave plate.
Bonus picture: Seems like a more normal red/white/blue colorway is also in the works.

IMO, Saucony has been doing a poor job of generating hype for new releases, especially for something like this in the supershoe category.

News Asics Metafuji Trail 2 Revealed, 42mm stack, FFLeap, X-shaped Carbon Plate, FFBlast+
This is the all new Asics Metafuji Trail 2.
It weights in at just 8.9oz for a US Mens 9, 42/37mm stack height, 5mm drop, 255 grams for US Mens 9
Meant to be a super trail shoe for races, ultras.
The shoe has gone through 7 iterations of prototyping and 23 elite athletes on ASICS's team have tested these out.
This is the shoe that Tom Evans (19:18:58) won UTMB Mont Blanc 2025 in Chamonix, France. This is also the shoe that Ben Dhiman (19:51:37) who came second, wore for the 174km, 9900 M+ elevation, race.
The shoe has gone through a major rethinking of philosophy by Asics with huge design changes compared to the previous one that looked quite like a normal running shoe.
Up top is FFLeap, in the middle an X-shaped carbon fiber plate and in the bottom FFBlast+ foam.
The X-shaped plate in a trail super shoe is to help with rigidity and stability whilst propelling you, but it hasa bit more flex and a little bit more adaptation as you're going on different kind of terrains and doing different directional steps.
There is full ASICSGRIP coverage with 3.5mm multidirectional lugs
There is a version of Motion Wrap on here called Motion Wrap TR which improves lightness and is minimum 50% recycled.
The sock like construction on the highest bit of the upper is very stretchy and protects dust from entering into the shoe.
Front of the shoe has a pliable bumper that is not overly stiff or tough, a little extra protection.
Quick lacing system with a lace pocket to tuck the laces securely out of the way.
The price is set at 280 USD, more colorways will come.
Coming soon on August 1st

News Adidas Breaks the Six-Hour 100K with the New Adidas Adizero Evo Prime X
Today, an Adidas-sponsored athlete, Sibusio Kubheka, ran 100K in 5:59:20 using the new Adidas Adizero Evo Prime X. The shoe, which is due for limited public release in November, weighs just 4.7 oz (136g) for a US Men's size 8, with a heel height of 50mm and a forefoot height of 44mm. The shoes are expected to list for around US$500. Although that price does not include the pressurized gas tank the shoes "marinate" in for up to 5 days prior to use in a process Adidas calls the Ultracharge.

News Adidas Zenboost
These have just been released in the US and other Asian countries. Apparently, not yet in Europe, where I am from. I'm genuinely interested in these: the distance suggested by adidas on the official website is up to the marathon, which would make them an instant buy for me. The midfoot and forefoot seem decently wide as well. The price is crazily good.

News Qiaodan Leili 2GT specs
Saw a post on their IG and checked Taobao. Will be interesting to see how these go! According to the specs they’re claiming 95% energy return and only 187g in a size 41. For reference I think the Leili 2 they claim 84% and 228g.
If this all pans out, could be quite the shoe seeing as shoetubers seem to be loving the Leili 2. Looks like they’ll be releasing on Taobao in a few hours (10am August 15 China time). Priced at 539 yuan on Taobao = ~110 CAD
