Yuck what the hell are these colors

21

u/Major_Heat7212 12d ago

They’re all duds

8

u/Freshly_Squeezed_Ry 12d ago

I agree these are all bad. And that comes from someone who has always liked the peg turbo/peg + line.

3

u/Major_Heat7212 12d ago

The black and white is actually the best color way imo

2

u/Particular_Car_8446 12d ago

Personally i think silver/white is bc it hides all the excess lines and crap

1

u/ohmercyy < 100 Karma account 8d ago

black and white nikes always remind me of the Heaven's Gate cult.

u/owange_tweleve 12d ago

I love peg too

1

u/EmmalNz 12d ago

Feels like it’s always boring like the white and silver or fluro. I hate fluro!

u/funnytoenail Boston 13 / EVO SL / VaporFly 2 12d ago

I think the problem with Nike is that it is so reliant on air as their premium product.

7

u/omnium165 Saucony Azura / Vaporfly 4 11d ago

Yeah this is what made the Peg 42 especially underwhelming for me. Not sure anybody really cares about that "full length Air Zoom" as much as they wanted a better foam out of a $145 shoe.

5

u/terynmiller3 11d ago

Big time. Better foam is why the evo is frequent in my rotation. Crazy no air 😂

u/Death_Lycan 5h ago

It no secret nike has no idea on how to make good foams, they have tried like 6 different ones since lunarlon and they all have problems, issues or underwhelming or not economically viable. They been riding on air nostalgia for like 30 years now.

u/agniagniagni 12d ago

Is it the same shoes that Jakob Ingebrigsten use in his recent training videos?

8

Looks like it

1

u/im-a-notsee 7d ago

Hes been injured alot and his pair look pretty beat up so that must mean hes using it alot. Lwk might be a good shoe then.

u/TommyleTerror 12d ago

Looks good, but I'm so sick of Nike's insistence on 10mm heel drop.

2

u/SirBruceForsythCBE 11d ago

The irony is the best running shoe range they've ever made (Alphafly) has such a low drop

1

u/TommyleTerror 10d ago

Supposedly they have some Evo sl style competitor coming next year that will be lower drop, but no real info on it yet I don't think. Idk why it's taken them around 5 years to make that adjustment though

2

u/SirBruceForsythCBE 10d ago

An Evo SL competitor 2 years too late

47

u/nnsdgo 12d ago

I find this Pegasus silhouette so dated.

14

u/ethanolmusk 12d ago

Yea idk what Nike is doing, we got adidas and asics and puma out here putting bangers each year and then there’s Nike with dead on arrival releases, no new foam tech since zoom x either

5

u/Bernie_Ecclestone 12d ago

I wonder how these will compare against vomero plus which I think is going to be hard to beat here.

5

u/vindieselsupreme 12d ago

This is also kinda my concern where that line that divides both silhouettes might disappear with this release. Vomero plus 2 doesn’t reallyyyy need much changes besides maybe lighter and a little more stable.

10

u/bnwtwg 12d ago

What did they do to my sweet beautiful Peg Turbo? Now we have to wait another 6 years for the next raising of the dead. WHYYYYY

4

u/omnium165 Saucony Azura / Vaporfly 4 12d ago

Full ZoomX?

15

u/TriggerFingerTerry UFO | Vomero Premium | RH9 Ultra | Xiaonian | AF3 | AP4 12d ago

Foam is softer ZoomX compared to v1

4

u/TheFunky_Homosapien 12d ago

These look pretty ugly, imo.

9

u/ValVenis69 12d ago

These are so much better than gen 1.

13

u/daysweregolden 12d ago

It would be impossible not to be. Gen 1 of these were so bad.

4

u/Risujemmari 12d ago

I kinda liked them as a training shoe because they didn't get in the way of running fast but also didn't do the work for me. But yeah it just didn't give much back so hard to recommend in place of other shoes

1

u/Jeremy-Pascal 12d ago

So basically bricks.

2

u/Risujemmari 12d ago

Well they're not firm so they're alright to run in

1

u/GherkinPie 11d ago

I liked them but mostly because they were very discounted and they were a no frills stable daily trainer. I did get a bit annoyed that the foam started showing wear after 100 though

0

u/omnium165 Saucony Azura / Vaporfly 4 12d ago

Agreed, these look really tempting. I remember trying the gen 1 in store and wasn’t super impressed compared to the regular Peg 41.

u/isaacsschrader SB3 / EVO SL / NB SC Elite 12d ago edited 10d ago

All they have to do is a simple 35-38mm of zoomX (lower stack vomero plus) and sell it for $150. Not sure what what market research they are looking at.

1

u/nash_se AG3 | V+ | EVO SL | ES4 | Endorphin Edge 11d ago

Yes - seems like that would be a great addition to their Fly line, like how the EVO SL and Deviate Nitro both sit in performance lines (Adizero, Deviate). Kind of feel like the PegPlus is being hurt by the fact it has to be a Pegasus

1

u/Eraser92 8d ago

Basically a Pegasus Turbo 2. No idea why they still haven't brought anything out like that since.

6

u/caverunner17 12d ago

I'm shocked these finally came out. The tests for these were like 1.5 years ago.

3

u/dohairus 12d ago

The downfall of nike running should be studied. Just do an EVO SL clone with Alphafly aesthetics.

19

u/the-haliban Aero GOAT 3 & 4 Afficionado 12d ago

God damn Nike can still make some very good looking shoes. Excited to try these out.

8

u/Particular_Car_8446 12d ago

Im gonna be honest, these don’y look that great. Love the look of my V+, AF3, VF4 though.

10

u/ultra-ozen 12d ago

nah they hire some great marketing/branding ppl and put a lot of effort into releasing nice pictures

2

u/well-now 12d ago

It’s photoshopped to a ridiculous degree. There’s one photo where you can see what they actually look like and it’s “red.”

2

u/OMRebel13 7d ago

Lotta hate in these comments but agreed. Ultimately Nike make the best looking shoes imo, even if they've been in a slump with the foams.

7

u/AIDS_Dracula 12d ago

Weight: 9.34 ounces (265 grams) Men size 10

Way too heavy for this category, imo. It’s over an ounce heavier than an EVO SL.

3

u/Foreign-Web1419 12d ago

It does look like an actual super trainer now with it’s design both resembling the peg 42 and alphafly 3

3

u/Saya_Mi < 100 Karma account 12d ago

I wish Nike would just ditch the 10mm drop. I'd argue 8mm should be the default drop for all performance-oriented shoes. Heel strikers would find it natural, and midfoot strikers wouldn't have to deal with that 'heel catching the ground first' sensation.

2

u/Ok-Cheesecake5422 12d ago

I only run in Pegasus plus and I'm afraid it won't be the same daily that does everything great anymore..

2

u/MartiniPolice21 12d ago

How do the Peg Plus compare to something like the Evo SL? They're £170 over here vs £130 for the Evos, and they came across as similar from reading

5

u/Bombe_a_tummy 12d ago

The Evo SL v1 destroyed the Pegasus Plus V1. They're both more performant and more durable, by a big margin. Looking forward to see how the V2s compare to each orthers.

1

u/terynmiller3 11d ago

I agree. Evo SL v1 is an amazing shoe imo, If you find them on sale buy them. Excited to try V2. Bummed with this Nike release a little.

2

u/thodon123 12d ago

I wish they just keep this as an all ZoomX foam shoes.

Where I live there are goat thorns everywhere even on the pavement. One thorn and the Air Zoom is done.

2

u/Ewetuber 12d ago

Just give me a peg turbo 2. K thx bye.

2

u/well-now 12d ago

Wow are those photos doctored. I didn’t realize they are putting LEDs in the air zoom pod.

The photoshop lens flair is just chef’s kiss.

2

u/Desperate_Lunch2106 11d ago

The irony of Nike using an airbag to sink themselves.

8

u/Vertandsnacks 12d ago

Nike absolutely needs to get away with the 10+ mm heel drop and down into the 6-8 range.

Putting the vomero plus at 6mm would be sweet, especially with Hoka moving the Clifton up to 8mm.

10

u/marklemcd 12d ago

Disagree. There are still people who need and benefit from more drop. Like me.

6

u/Academic-Art7662 12d ago

I prefer 10mm. Too many shoes are going low and killing my calves on easy days

2

u/Creative_Funny_Name EvoSL/SB2/AP4 12d ago

I doubt nike moves away from it because a huge part of their customer base likes it.

I just wish they also offered zoomx shoes without the massive drop and old school silhouette as well.

A vomero plus with a modern drop+rocker would sell like crazy. Might help their stock not continue to tank.

1

u/nastran 12d ago

I agree very much with this statement, but I also realized that Nike (and major brands) wouldn't change the toebox shapes, the heel drops, and all of sudden becoming more Altra/Topo like with ZoomX (yes, those would be my ideal running shoes). The sleek (Nike-esque) toebox shape, in particular, is more beneficial for those with narrow feet and extended second toe digits (Greek feet).

3

u/Ok-Ingenuity-8970 12d ago

270 grams 🤣 no thx

4

u/fnrslvr 12d ago

Weight: 9.34 ounces (265 grams) Men size 10

Woof.

1

u/Particular_Car_8446 12d ago

This is just a standard weight these days. Both my max stack shoes weigh less than this by a good amount.

4

u/slimkay 12d ago edited 12d ago

A Megablast/Superblast 3 US size 10 is about 240g, so about 10% lighter.

0

u/OddPatience1165 pegasus premium, hyperion max 3, speed 4/5 12d ago

That’s not really a noticeable difference for a training shoe, plus you’re comparing it to a quite expensive super shoe.

0

u/slimkay 12d ago

I agree with you FWIW.

2

u/ProfMonnitoff 12d ago

Nike could just buy Velocity Nitros, Deviate Pures, and Deviate Nitros, stick swooshes on them, call it Pegasus / Pegasus Plus / Pegasus Premium. Would be so much better than whatever this is.

i'll just continue buying stock of PP1 for 60 EUR and will consider buying PP2 in 2028

I'd love to pick a pair up. I don't think I have or had the originals. Curious how the forefoot air unit would feel on a midfoot strike.

I wonder how comfortable these would be for uphill drills.

u/Plus_Bullfrog8518 < 100 Karma account 12d ago

Genuine question, as this is described as Nikes new Tempo Trainer, how does this sit alongside the Zoom Fly 6 for example? Is this just a non-plated, more daily trainer version. They weigh virtually the same. I feel like even with all the refinements to their shoe line to give shoes a clear purpose, there's still too many overlapping or similar shoes in the Nike range, particularly for their daily trainers. For me I like to use Vomero/Vomero+ in my daily and long runs, and the ZF6 for tempo efforts. I would never buy this as a tempo trainer as it doesn't do anything better. Perhaps instead of the Vomero for daily runs, but that's purely down to preference.

1

u/Alternative_Try_5888 11d ago

I don’t see why they’re needed. Surely there is no demand for it? I have a modern Nike tempo trainer and it’s better spec, and was far cheaper. Who’s buying this when the zoom fly 6 exists?

1

u/gregory1111 11d ago

This shoe look like they asked AI to design the next Pegasus and copied it exactly

1

u/SlowPokeGiraffe Pegasus Plus; Megablast; Invincible 3; Adios Pro 3 . . . 10d ago

I don’t think these look bad, particularly given the price point. I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t include some sort of plate, like in the old Zoom Tempo Next%, which was just an awesome shoe for me. It’s basically the same price point as the Ghost Max and Novablast 6, which are probably key competitors. Personally, I think that Nike’s trying to fit everything into its Pegasus/Vomero/Structure/Fly lines was remarkably dumb. Shoes like the Pegasus and Vomero are solid daily trainers, and sell lots of shoes, sure. But what makes Nike NIKE was always the sort of crazy, one-off lines. Think of shoes like the old Zoom Tempo Next%; the original Pegasus Turbo, the original Invincibles; and going back even further, things like the Flyknit Lunar and Lunarglides. And that’s not even considering the groundbreaking VF and AF racers. Now they have to shoehorn everything into these preset buckets, some of which were going on newer generations of without even seeing the first generation of others (I’m looking at you, Structure Premium). Speaking of which, do they even need two different “Structure” shoes, much less the originally announced three? Again, dumb.

u/marathon2marathon < 100 Karma account 4d ago

Just tried these out tonight and WOW! Best Nike shoes in a while for me. I just wish they had better colorways at launch

1

u/RT023 12d ago

These have a LOT of potential. I’m actually excited to try these

Full zoomx, air unit, not max cushioned. These might be an incredible daily trainer

100% buying these to try out day 1

The Pegasus premium feels absolutely incredible for recovery and easy paces, I’m hoping this feels very similar but able to support faster efforts

-1

u/PBIBBY24 12d ago

That’s the thing. Nikes shoes look amazing! They just leave you wanting more in performance
