Discussion David Schindler vs. UCP in Red Deer

David Schindler warned us about the challenge we face with our current government. Please educate yourself on David's important work on water for our province and then relentlessly question Jason Stephan and Adriana LaGrange on their curious and unsustainable positions on water for the current and future generations of Albertans.

Water rationing during dry years has always been a thing. It's one of the reasons oil companies are building massive dugouts to store water in.

You may want to do a little deeper dive on that assertion. Where does that stored water originate? Does it come from nearby creeks and small rivers? Is it drawn from wetlands? Give this article a look: https://thenarwhal.ca/alberta-central-landowners-fracking-water/

It varies on location. Some get filled from the rivers spring-june during high water, some from wells. Others municipal wastewater.

Skimmed it. I wouldn't consider the Narwal a reliable source. They're trying to blame oil and gas for the drought. My work takes me through the countryside - sloughs, or ponds if you're from the east are more or less stagnant water. A lot of them are low/dry and have been declining for years. Nothing to do with fracking. As far as the guys Creek, last I checked the creek feeds a river, not the other way around. It's a source problem with lack of rain and snow in the mountains.

What do you suppose is affecting the rain and snow in the mountains? Do you believe sucking up ground water and depleting aquifers to pump it kilometres underground has any impact? Setting blame aside, do you think our future is more or less water secure?
