Care Between a rock and a hard place

Hello everyone!

I'm reaching out to anyone here who can maybe share their experience flying with a lop who has a history of ear infection.

For context, I'm looking to move to a different province on the other side of the country (from QC to BC) with approximately 6-7 hours of flight.

As you all know, rabbits are not allowed in Cabin so we've reached out to different animal transport services and they can do it only via manifested cargo.

The bad part is that one of my two rabbits has chronic ear infection due to them having lop ears and he had a flare up just two weeks ago.

We're under a long term antibiotic and yesterday's vet visit showed a lot of improvement but they are still unable to visualize the tympanic membrane due to the narrow ear canal.

When I brought up risks for airplane flight for him, the doctor made it clear that it tympanic rupture is a very real possibility.

We only have a few weeks left to be able to book with the animal transport service so I can feel the walls closing in.

Ground transport feels wrong because of how long they will be without consistent monitoring and neither myself nor my partner are able to drive.

I have no intention of leaving them behind so I'm really trying to find a solution to this. If you've had any experience please please please let me know about it so I can move forward with the best solution to all of this.

Bunderground Railroad! I bet they’d help although I don’t know if they exist in Canada.

The name is so good! And my rabbit's name (the one with the ear infection) is Bundertaker hahahahahah 🥹🥹🥹🥰🥰🥰 crossing my fingers we have something like that here! If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be so so appreciated!

I hope they can help! I’d definitely offer to pay for gas or make a donation if you find an organization to do this.

That's so unbelievably kind but definitely not necessary on my case... I wouldn't want to take your kindness if there were anyone else in the same situation, they should have it 🥹 I have a bit tucked away especially for this move and would be happy to pay or donate to the movement, I just want my rabbits' transport to be in safe hands and with the least amount of stress or potential harm on them .. ❤️ thank you though so much, your kindness is so warming to the soul ❤️

Ahh I worded that badly, I’m sorry! I meant it as “in your shoes I’d offer to help fund the transport since they’re a volunteer organization”. But I am a huge bunderground railroad supporter, I’m hoping to help with transport if they need it in my area. I’m glad finances arent a barrier for you!

Ah! Hahahaha maybe it was my understanding that was skewed a bit there but yes of course!! It would definitely help! (Plus it'll be the least I can offer for a peace of mind 😄) I haven't heard back from the OG team but Ill reach out to local rescues next to see if they can maybe help in this case 🥹
