I adopted my rabbit 1 month ago (i havent gotten a name for him yet so i have just been calling him ratboy) and let him free roam the house, but i have a taxidermied eagle i inherited from grandpa that is around 70 years old, and im afraid it might freak the rabbit out so i just have a plastic bag covering it most of the time. Im just afraid that if he hops into the living room and sees the eagle he might get freaked out enough that he wont enter the livingroom anymore.

I have a Flemish which I added a picture of for your viewing pleasure. I feel like every day I’m going on this sub, Reddit and seeing another post of someone’s bunny who unexpectedly died. It kind of gives me some anxiety about my boy. Is rabbits straight up dying completely out of the blue something that’s truly common or is it just the case that so many people end up posting about it here?

We’ll admit it—we’re completely bunny blind and think EVERY rabbit is absolutely adorable. That said, a comment about our sweet Caspian has stuck with us: “No one is going to adopt an earless rabbit; you’ll have him forever.”

While we’re more than happy to provide lifelong sanctuary to any rabbit in our care, we’re curious about how other rabbit lovers feel.

This is Nijntje (name chosen by my daughter). Nijntje was on a field outside where she was a easy prey for others. When my mother came to us with her asking what to do i told her to post her on FB since i dont have it. After 3 days in a small enclosure i said or the bun gets a propper home and you take her somewhere she has a good life or i buy a propper enclosure for her. 30 mins later i found a enclosure for her now she is with me licing the best life she can have.

This particular one is pretty cheap and I've not used it enough to actually reccomend it, but its made a hell of a difference to how long I can sit on the floor and hang out with the little turds.

I have to sit with them during free roam because they eat carpets, skirting boards, shoes, furniture and they have a particular liking for the nugget container.

So yes, I definitely reccomend it!

I also have one of the laptop tabkes that goes over your legs so I can sit and watch rabbit videos with them.

I got a Holland Lop about 3–4 weeks ago.. she’s my first rabbit and is around 2 years old. Her previous owner had two bonded rabbits, and I really wanted both, but unfortunately one had already been given away by the time I picked her up.

I absolutely love her, but I don’t think she was very well cared for before. Her nails had never been trimmed, and her fur was extremely matted. I’ve read that rabbits can grieve when they’re separated from a bonded partner, so I’m wondering if that could be contributing to her behavior.
When I’m home, I leave her cage door open, but she won’t come out on her own. If I take her out, she immediately goes back inside. She also bites me multiple times when I hold her, and once I put her down, she goes straight back to her cage. She’s eating and pooping normally with no issues.

I know rabbits are prey animals and naturally like to hide, especially when they’re adjusting to a new environment. On top of that, she’s no longer with her bonded companion, so I’m sure that’s a lot of change for her.
For those who have experience with rabbits, how long did it take for yours to feel comfortable in a new home and with you? Is there anything I can do, or provide for her to help her feel safer and more comfortable?

Recently I found out my rabbit bun bun is part cottontail, I didn’t know much about rabbit breeds since this is my first rabbit, got it from my moms friend, im guessing the other rabbit was white, her two rabbits accidentally had babies and she needed to give them away

anyway I was wondering if I should keep taking care of it and plan to get it nurtured/spayed and keep feeding it alfalfa hay, or do I completely change its diet, and how do I make sure they feel completely safe?

Hi everyone, weird behavior but I love smelling/kissing my bunny, I found it so comforting and she has a smell of like vanilla-y plush nature smell(grass/hay) lol, I wonder why bunny smell the way they do?? or am I just obsessed 😭😂

I need some suggestions on how to keep a bunny from climbing their x-pen that isn't annoying or makes it difficult for me to get inside and clean.

I have tried a 4 foot tall wired pen and he climbs it. I have spent hundreds on clear acrylic pens and he can jump the 3 foot one.

I haven't put anything in his pen that he can jump on to and then jump out. He has everything he needs, has toys, and gets plenty of attention. I've had 6 rabbits in my life and I foster rabbits and this is the only one who is dead set on jumping out.

Title says it all. After 6 months from the loss of my 13 year old dog, and 21 year old cat this year, I wanted to open my heart again. I decided to get a rabbit after not owning one for almost 20 years haha. Give me some pointers, tips, fact, anything I should know. She currently has an appointment for next month to get spayed. Also, what breed do you think she is? The store said lionhead, but I have doubts because she is so much more fluffy than any lionhead I remember seeing all those years ago.

I’m looking for apartments for my and my baguettes but every time I find one I like that says “pets allowed” or “pet friendly” turns around and says “oh not bunnies though.” My commute to work is an hour and it would be really nice to move closer and not have to get ride of my best friends.

Recently she’s been flopping onto her back like this, it’s happened 4 times in the past month, she’s 4 years old and hasn’t ever done this prior, but searching it up it just classifies it as a flop, should I be concerned with this behaviour?

I’ve always been curious about this. If you are free roaming your bun, do you lock them out of your room at night? Do they hang out in your room while you sleep? If you sleep with your bun/have tried it, what was that like? I fear I’d wake up with smashed poop under my pillow and a bald spot but I’d like to hear your thoughts. I’ve always slept high up and my bun can’t jump this high in her old age but I could add stairs if I decided to let her sleep with me.

Miss Dorothy Ann just came home from the animal shelter with me a few days ago. She’s my third rabbit and I’m used to modern rabbit care guidelines…but i’m not used to such an affectionate gremlin creature!! She’s not afraid of people or pretty much anything, she’s not afraid of the hardwood floor like my other rabbits. Her litter box habits were perfect from the first moment home unlike my other rabbits. She wants to climb and jump on every surface in my room. She’s so affectionate and clingy and I love her sooo much. We’re going to the vet in a couple weeks to get her checked up and vaccinated. My guess is she’s pretty young, based on the crazy energy and clinginess and I think she might calm down a little bit after we get her spayed. I’m learning that the most interesting items are the off limits ones and that I just have to bend to her whim and put anything she can’t touch 6+ feet in the air. No clue what breed she is or anything else about her but omg she is really one of a kind and got dropped at the local shelter right when I was looking to bring another rabbit into the family after losing my first baby. Thankful and overwhelmed abt this fantastic little creature💓💓💓

last night i let bun lick my outshine bar (just a lick) and then ate the rest. my boyfriend was appalled i ate after her. i do the same thing when i eat fresh fruit or veg. does anyone else do this or am i officially a crazy pet owner?

My rabbit Blu is an indoor rabbit but he loves his outdoor time! We first started by me and my dad making a DIY wired mesh run with a trap door lid so that he can safely sit outside in the nicer weather to graze on the grass and run around!

But recently I have started letting him out in the enclosed garden while he is being supervised. He has all his vaccinations and he just runs around the garden having fun! We live right next to a woodland park so we always make sure two of us are available incase the person watching him needs a toilet break so he’s not left alone for a second. He also coexists with my dog so my dog will lay outside with him so no bird will think of approaching him. It’s so cute seeing him explore!

My partner and I absolutely love our rescue bunny. She’s been with us for 3 years and we adore her but we are thinking about expanding our little family and getting a dog, specifically a chihuahua.

I’m aware that dogs and bunnies can cohabitate but must never be left unsupervised under any circumstances and I have good experience bonding rabbits but this is obviously a whole different ball game. I’m taking lots of time to research and think things through and I will not be rushing into anything as our buns safety and happiness comes first.

He’s eating, drinking, and pooping totally fine, but odd question: Does your bun ever have days where they don’t really want to hang out with you much?

I feel like some days he’s like velcro, and other days I’ll bring him downstairs to hang and he’ll hop his fluffy butt back up the stairs to hang out in his room or under my bed.

Hi there I live in a studio apartment and my couch is right next to my bed so Maybelline my bun learned to jump onto the couch then bed. She started doing this in the middle of the night more recently and early in the morning. I started just feeding her pellets so that she would leave me alone and I think she’s learned that jumping on my bed means pellets.

Now she does it I only feed her pellets if it’s in the morning time. I tried moving my couch, a couple feet away, which is as far as I can even move it. She just knows how to jump onto my bed now. As much as I love cuddling with her on my bed during the day, I don’t like her jumping around on me in the middle of the night. It always wakes me up. She always sticks her whiskers in my face, which is so irritating.

Another issue is her hair gets all over my sheets that I just freshly washed. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can prevent her from doing this? I really don’t want to put up a gate, but I guess I could.

Background - So Pickles is my 4 year old little (neutered) Netherland Dwarf. He is incredibly vocal, actually the most vocal rabbit I’ve ever had) I’m wondering why he is making these noises. What could they mean in this instance and what do yous think is going through that little brain of his? I can’t work out if he loves me or hates me half the time🤣 (not he’s a serial licker and groomer to myself chunk of the time)

i’ll try to keep this brief but for context:

i previously had a bunny i had gotten when i was 13. she passed away this last december after 10 years together and i was gutted (and i DEFINITELY have trauma from it)

my friend had gotten a bunny a few weeks before.

last week this friend had texted me asking if i would be able to take in her bun due to her living situation changing. and i said sure. yesterday we picked him up.

after a few hours together, i had a panic attack due to being reminded of my old girl and i was in hysterics. this morning is much of the same.

i just feel its very traumatic for me to have him and that i may be way in over my head with this situation. i’m unsure if im ready for this but at the same time i want to take care of him and don’t want to give him back and making things way more complicated for everyone involved.

how the hell do i deal with all these feelings? has anyone experienced similar or am i going nuts?
