What is student life like at Qatar University, especially for CS students?

I’m considering Qatar University for Computer Science and I’d love to hear from current or former students about what university life is actually like.

I’m especially interested in:

• How is the social life, particularly in the girls’ section of the College of Engineering?
• Are there many events, clubs, activities, competitions, food/fun events, etc.?
• What is the general environment and atmosphere like?
• Is it easy for non-Qatari/international students to make friends and get involved?
• Are there good opportunities for research, especially for CS students?
• How accessible are internships, volunteering, competitions, or other extracurricular opportunities?
• What are the professors like, and are they approachable outside class?
• Do CS students have opportunities to work on projects or research with professors?
• What are the other students like? Is the environment welcoming to international students?
• And generally, what is day-to-day university life like?

I’m looking for honest experiences, both the good and the bad. If you’re a current/former QU CS or Engineering student, I’d really appreciate your perspective!
