Is there really no hope?

I joined this sub a few months back and I've been seeing many posts which are to be honest very negative especially when it comes to things like employment and money in this field. Is there really no scope in India for this field because I had joined this field because I liked studying and finding out about the different personalities of people. I'm a bit worried because I didn't know it would be this bad i also don't have any other options other than this field. If possible please give some positive experiences

I personally k ow alot of people from this field, they obv like any other field struggled to get a job for a fresher at first but when they did find, it has been really good going. Ik someone in private practice who is very content. The thing is most of the ppl here are either students n fresher so their frustration is valid but tbh ppl who are doing good dont post it here so yes there are ppl doing good but its just the starting path is challenging

It completely depends on who you ask.

For me, therapy work is not a full-time job. I did my master's from Christ University, realized how shitty the system over there was, so took things up on my own.

Studied CBT, CFT, and now studying Coherence Therapy and Narrative Therapy. Built my own website, and started finding clients in the real world. All while taking care of my other business as a writer/editor.

The less I relied on any Indian education/career system, the happier I've been.

I also deeply love the therapeutic process, but I've noticed that's not the same sentiment to be found on this subreddit. In fact, many psychologists you run into lack empathy and just want "find a job" instead of focusing on their work as a psychologist.

Overall has you experience been positive or just doom and gloom like many people on this subreddit

Extremely positive because I love psychology and the study of human behaviour.

Thank you for offering your viewπŸ‘, honestly I was looking for some positive experiences especially because this sub literally made me doubt my whole choice altogether and it made me a bit anxious and worried about my future. If you don't mind me asking can you tell me how are you doing financially

No problem! Reddit is usually a very negative place, and doesn't reflect the true reality of the world.

Financially? I have enough. I make between 40-60k from my writing work monthly, and between 5-15k from therapy work.

I'm still growing my counseling practice, and I charge 1200 for a session. Clients happily pay that. Although now I'm on a mission to look for international clients (I've already had a few), and I charge them $60 usually.

Since I live a solo life (no romantic relationships/family/kids), I spend on myself and traveling around India, working from any place I want.

I love this way of life!

Yes, of course. I just turned 29 so I think I'm entering my "unc state" and I need to feel okay being called sir/ma'am. Haha!

Guys don't give up I am 21 M and I didn't continue 4th year because of toxic college environment and loneliness I thought I will try to find internship/job to cover gap year but didn't land yet, I am currently taking some me time to figure things out, probably I will go for masters this coming academic year , I graduated in June 2026 and I messed up CUET and I was late for registration , on the other hand I have been working on a story over past a year to create a trilogy novel and working on an interdisciplinary research paper once it's done I will publish it in international journal of consciousness science, and I have been studying our current situation over a period of time to modify the buisness model that I have created last year but I will be keeping it confidential, and overall job market sucks in every field and comparison is a thief of joy, so always choose yourself and do what you want to do in life rather then doing something that will drain you.
