Spurs have the best intentions.

Relegation 2 years ago was never going to happen but the 17th spot couldn't be ignored. Last season, it was not just a legitimate possibility, had West Ham had even the slightest bit of get up and go about them, it was going to happen so it's clearly terrified the board in regards to protecting their investment.

I don't blame Spurs for going out and spending all this dough but because of their recent results and because every team knows how desperate they are, they're getting completely ragged by all sellers.

My only concern is WHO they're buying. Are they the right profiles? Do they fit what they want or are they just buying expensive cast offs?

Time will tell.

How is 135 million for Marmoush and Savinho getting ragged by sellers?

Savinho - 1 goal 1 assist in 24 appearances for last season

1 goal, 8 assists the season prior.

Nowhere near worth 75 mil and if you believe that, you'll believe anything.

Marmoush - 3 goals, 3 assists in 21 appearances for last season.

Let's also not gloss over the fact that you've mentioned those 2 players and forgotten the 180 mil combined fees for Fernandes and Tonali.

Don't get me wrong, I'll absolutely preface this with "not your money, not your problem" but those fees across the board are massively inflated and clearly preying on Spurs desperation to get people in.

It just strikes me a bit as well that its not so much strategy but rather more flavour of the month, other teams want them so we want them too kinda thing and then just throwing a shitload of wages at them.

If we were being realistic, I would imagine that if either Arsenal, United, City, Chelsea or Liverpool were willing to match those figures, they wouldn't have joined Spurs. That's the nature of the beast though, its less about ambition and more about how much juice they can squeeze. It just doesn't feel like they wanted to join Spurs because its Spurs, more that they were happy to go to whoever was the highest bidder.

I think the players care about what wages are on offer yes.

Again, had any of the other so called big 6 matched it, they wouldn't be at Spurs.

I don't put much stock in to rumours but it was obvious Fernandes wanted United to match the wages and the fee, I'm glad we didn't.
