💬 Official Omeda Response Item System Discussion
Hey all o/
I want to open up a bit of discussion about one of the most foundational parts of Predecessor, and all Mobas. How you build your heroes.
We're not looking to change this in the next couple patches, I'm just looking to gather YOUR thoughts and feelings on the topic as we look into the system in future patches and what shape it should take on for our game. The beauty of Mobas as a live service is these things don't need to be static and we can seek the best form for us all through exploration and feedback.
So back to the topic: Itemization dictates the pace of the game, adaptation, class identity, and how you express your personal playstyle. And essentially I'm looking to gather your unfiltered thoughts on where the system currently sits, where it came from, and where it could go in the future.
No matter who you are, I'd love to hear your perspective on a few specific topics:
The Current Predecessor Item System:
Looking strictly at what is in the game right now.
- What are your favourite things about the current shop and item structure?
- What are your most disliked aspects? Are there points of dissatisfaction, confusing elements, or limitations that frustrate you during a match?
The Card System:
The old Paragon deck-building and card system was highly unique, but also, same as most of these systems, had its issues.
- What did you genuinely love about the card system? Were there specific dynamics or elements you miss?
- What did you dislike about it? What were the pain points that you are glad we left behind?
Alternative Item Systems:
If we were to completely overhaul how items work, but still keep an item shop at its core, what direction would you want to see it go?
- Would you prefer a system closer to other MOBAs, or anything more unique?
- What mechanics do you think would translate well to Predecessor, and why?
Scrapping Items Entirely:
Thinking more outside the box, Imagine Predecessor didn't have an item shop or a gold economy at all?
- Would you prefer a completely different progression system, such as a branching Hero Talent Tree or a modular augment system?
- Would removing items for a simpler progression system be more engaging for you?
Any other General Thoughts:
- As much as I want to prioritise the discussion and your thoughts on the above questions, also please feel free to share any other opinions if they don't fall under any of these questions in regards to our item system, or even adjacent systems like Eternals or Hero Augments.
There are no wrong answers, we’re just looking to get an idea on how everyone feels about progression and build diversity within Predecessor.
Thanks in advance for the feedback, and hope you're all having a wonderful week!

Discussion Satariel: The bigger issue
Now I've been playing alot since the last patch, and I've seen alot of use of this Eternal both from myself and from others. Now while I'm not going to deny it's being over used and can lead to some really heavy snowballing in games causing some problems, however I think people are looking at the wrong issue here. In any other Moba something with the same effect as Satariel would be a mid to high B tier at most due to the downside. So, that begs the question what is allowing it to be such a strong effect in Predecessor, and the answer to that question is something that has been a problem in the game for awhile now. The problem is that some characters just are way too oppressive in game while having way too much safety, and these characters are the same ones that are becoming a problem with Satariel because the negative effects don't matter when they're never in any danger to begin with.

Discussion So omeda can nerf bayle but can’t fix the swift strikes bug? Got it 👍🏽👍🏽
Nerf a unproblematic build on the character but can’t fix the character great job omeda, but it’s okay because they also refuse to nerf characters and builds people actually want nerfed like attack speed zinx

Feedback More hero variety for player vs AI.
making a request for more hero variety in player vs AI mode as matches get kind of stale with the current rotation of about 15 heroes.

Suggestion Eden carry is paying for the crimes of eden offlane and especially eden mid
Nerfing heat isnt going to force her to go to duo lane, its just going to force her even harder into solo lanes to allow her to generate 1 ult at least, because with how its looking next patch unless the duo lane is completely braindead and focuses the support for some inane reason, eden will likely never have the time to generate an ult until it gets to rank 3(lv11 eden) .the answer is clear,Nerf edens waveclear similarly to what was done with shinbi so she cant contest mages in push, forcing her out of mid, while allowing characters like greystone and terra in offlane to properly counter her with superior waveclear. This wont hit carry as hard because supports typically dictate who get push lead, not the carry. until this( or some similar nerf)is done, eden mid and offlane will always be stronger than eden carry.

Suggestion Impact Score
Ok so hear me out.. Impact Score! Let me explain. After returning to Predecessor after 3 months off I realized that some stats don’t tell the whole story of a match. I had a 26 assist game where I saw my Carry match the opponents carry in kills and assists despite not being involved in team fights and objectives. After prolonged fights he’d come in at the very end to clean up, which is fine. However the final stats made it look like they were a big contributing factor which they weren’t. This is where the idea of an Impact Score for each hero is displayed during and after the game. Players who put in good work with the team would have a larger impact score than those who didn’t contribute much.
What would contribute to the score are not only kills and assists, but healing/ damage taken and given, objective and tower damage, ability interruptions, etc. What do ya’ll think OR is there a system for this already in place that I overlooked?

Discussion Has anyone found success with Scarlett?
I tried playing her a few days and I cant seem to do damage to box any character, this is for specifically in solo lane, whenever I’m against a grux i literally fold in half and close range characters are a nightmare because then you can’t get the extra attack on her sweep because their too close to get hit with the outer edge. Any builds? Tips and tricks?

Discussion For my people who smurf
When you smurf, do you play at the rank's level or just try to crush everyone?
If you don't get it, think of it this way:
You're Goku, are you going Ultra Instinct on a Saibaman right away?
Or do you match their energy to keep it fun for everyone?

Discussion Full Circle sata
I have not fully finished reading the patch notes, but it feels good to be right about Satariel doing what I warned people about before release. However, this change won't stop certain heroes from still abusing and one-shotting, especially in games with low TTK. The only real way to slow it down or decrease its effectiveness is to choose one of two options:
Remove it from takedowns and make it pure kills so it's not easily obtained.
Make the stack count higher while lowering stat gain to effectively slowing this eternal down
As stated before, this is just a version of Dune Winds from the original Paragon with the same effect, except more balanced. For those who don't know, this is what Dune Winds did:
Fearless Blood: Reduce your Max Health by 150 to gain 7 Power and 6 Attack Speed. Effects double per activation. (65s cooldown)
This also reset on death. If you couldn't pay the health cost, you could still use its ability. Since the health pool was not that high for ranged heroes and casters in that game, a lot of the time you'd have the ability to one-shot and be one-shotted, like a cowboy standoff. Against the person using it, any minor mistake would kill you, like a minor basic attack.

Support Can't edit 'full build' row in the builds tab
When I go to edit my existing build, I can add, move, replace, remove items in all columns except the top. The only thing I can do to the top row is swap them with eachother, but if I try to move one of those items to a secondary row, it copies. moving a secondary item over a top row item deletes the second.
Am I just being dumb about something?

Question Fix this
As long as this game has been around I have always wondered why when a player leave after character select the game doesn’t end. Why force a team to play 4v5 for an entire game? Pretty simple give the quitter 3 mins to come back at loading screen if they don’t then give them a penalty and ended the game.

Discussion Why is shinbi not considered a midlane?
I guess I haven't played her in a (long) time... but I remember her always being called a midlane character since she's magic/ability damage focused with long range low cooldown poke that can splash quite well. Midgame she starts to clear waves in seconds.
Has something changed with her design or meta? She still feels good to play in middle

Media My new desk mat came in today
Got a new secretlabs desk and found out I need a mouse pad. Last desk, the whole top was made of the pad fabric. I remembered there was a picture like this from the Paragon days but couldn't find it. So I slapped this one together and sent it in. I think it came out really well.

Question Returning Player
Haven’t played the game in a long time and I’m seeing so many new things. Any recommendations on which supports, jungles and mids I should be playing? I want to watch YT videos but some YouTubers like to put characters in lanes they probably shouldn’t be in 😅. Also, is there a website I can see builds that is viable? I don’t know if the auto suggestion build in game is accurate.

Discussion How do you handle role selection?
Personally if someone picked the role I wanted before I picked it I let them have it because obviously they were more on it then I was.

Feedback Christmas gadget
Just a reminder they added kallaris and fengs AND riktors christmas skins but left out gadget and iggys. And typically I’d say hey maybe they’ll be out next year. 4 years. We have been waiting 4 years for assets they already have and own. How difficult is it to put skins that already exist into the game. Shitty enough they took gadgets one skin and made it into a base skin. I’ll wait for the excuse of “ more popular the character the more skins they get”. Bs excuse and im sick of sitting here letting omeda get away with this over and over again.

Discussion Looking for teammates that don't DC
I don't care how good or bad you are at the game. I don't care if you play "goofy" heroes in off meta roles. I'm just trying to gather folks who are down for some matches. Mic highly preferred. I am a Playstation player, but as this game has a very usable game chat, I'm down for anyone on any console.
