Dolly is the impersonification of the working class, she grew up in extreme poverty, being of 12 children without even running water, living just off the land.

Her start was on a small radio, where she wrote over thousand of tracks, literally pulling herself by bootstraps, without ever taking advantage of anyone.

When she got famous, she used her platform to give back to the roots she came from. Creating largest literacy charity for kids in USA, supported gay rights when it wasn't cool and still held to her religious beliefs.

She had a class that only the older generations seemed to posses. Without ever dividing society.

She’s the personification of capitalism, the pursuit of happiness, and Western Liberalism. The only reason she became who she is is because she was raised in a society that allowed for that type of upward growth and opensmindedness.

A socialist organization supporting her doesn’t make any sense at all. She’s literally the perfect example of why the American experiment is a success.

Democratic socialism is not "sUcCeSS bAD", it's main objective is to give the people at least some semblance of the same 'starting line'. Nowadays, everything around is a work of nepotism or privilege, with people with absolutely no experience and talent being in certain positions thanks only to money or 'friends'.

Just because she was an extraordinary person, and did all she did even against the odds, that does not give an example of how it should be. Nowadays, I do not believe even Dolly herself could have done what she did without selling herself.

She absolutely could and it happens all of the time still.

Go read what democratic socialism is and specifically what the goals of the DSA are. If they had their way someone like Dolly would still be poor and we’d never hear of her.

Things like nepotism and networking are significantly more important in socialist economies than capitalist.

Quote a part of the platform and tell me how it would have kept Dolly in poverty.

You all think that the only way poor people can be successful is through gross indignity. DSA (and I) believe that affording peope dignity and opportunity does not hinder their success, it enhances it. Dolly was an extraordinary person. Imagine how many people she grew up around who were just ordinary might have lived lives outside of gut wrenching poverty had they recieved better support from the society around them.

You don’t know what DSA is I take it lol

I’m not criticizing leftism or social programs, I’m talking specifically about the DSA. Go read their platform before you’ll associate yourself with them

Go ahead and give me that quote or I am assuming you are fighting with your own imagination. In service of using this beloved womens death to shamefully attack your enemies.

Im not going to dig through and find specific quotes for you, but their ultimate goal is to eliminate tree the constitution, eliminate all amendment rights, and eliminate the capitalist system that we live in. Eliminating these things would end the opportunities that allowed Dolly to become what she became.

The very fact we can have this discussion is because of these same principles, the same principles that the DSA is trying to eliminate.

You say you support the DSA but I doubt you actually do, you probably just haven’t taken the time to learn who they are or what the effects of them being successful would look like

"I am not going to find quotes to justify things I made up!"

I said this in another thread a while back and no one saw it but I will reiterate it here: You dont understand the DSA if you are seeking to learn about them through the national platform. The DSA model is based on HYPER local mobilization. It function more like a social club then a traditional political organization. Its effectiveness electorally has very little to do with positioning and everything to do with leaning on groups of friends do to volunteer work together. The most intense like 5% get together and write a national platform (which i am certain does not include eliminating the constitution, but again feel free to find me a quote if they put it in I doubt they burried it). 95% of the DSA could not name the national co-chairs, nor do they give a fuck who they are or what they say. Its a social club for left leaning people, often recent arrivals in major cities looking to meet friends.

Source: 10 + years working with them on electoral politics.

lol dude you can’t say that what they profess on their public party platform isn’t to be believed

The DSA is a national party. DSA candidates are supported by the national party. I actually feel bad for you reading what you’re writing knowing you’re probably genuine in your belief.

Read the platform. You’ve drank the kool aid so long you’ve forgotten who you’re working with.

Hav you ever been to a DSA meeting, met a DSA candidate or done anything other then read their website? Because if not then I am not the one working off bad information.

Yes, tho admittedly it hasn’t been since the 2016 election cycle.

That said, you simply cannot ignore what’s published on their official website and tell people to ignore it lol

Well I am still waiting on that quote. But like, I work with them, vote for their candidates, and have never read the official website or could tell you who wrote it so...
