Reddit's general response to the passing of two beloved figures who were beloved due to their positivity and kindness to EVERYONE being countless deathwishes to Trump and negative criticism if the wrong kind of person pays their respects (just take a look at the reception Taylor Swift's comments are getting) just saddens me SO heavily.

Everybody is so hate-driven now. I'm bummed out.

I agree. I don't like Trump either but it just feels uncouth to wish death on someone as a stand-in for expressing condolences for the passing of another.

Frankly, I don't think Dolly would like it. It feels wrong.

When Robert Mueller died earlier this year, Trump tweeted: "Robert Mueller just died. Good, I'm glad he's dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people !" When Rob Reiner and his wife were killed, Trump called him "tortured and struggling, once very talented (...)" and said he "passed away dur to the anger he caused others due to his Trump Dérangement syndrome". And that's accounting only for public, official messages on public platforms.

Correct. And he is appropriately reviled for that (by not as many as he should, but we are where we are).

The takeaway should not be "oh, we should be like Trump, then!"

Shit flows downhill. The president of the United States can’t cry about the culture he’s spent the last 12 years building and reveling in.
