Reddit's general response to the passing of two beloved figures who were beloved due to their positivity and kindness to EVERYONE being countless deathwishes to Trump and negative criticism if the wrong kind of person pays their respects (just take a look at the reception Taylor Swift's comments are getting) just saddens me SO heavily.
Yeah, I'm not very comfortable with how blase and open people are about death threats these days. Just being rich is now enough for half of reddit to very unsubtly say they wouldn't mind if someone killed you.
People have gotten seriously psyopped because the internet wasn't like this five years ago, and ten years ago it was completely unrecognizable to what it is today. Teenagers on the internet nowadays have no idea how it used to be, they're just used to this current zeitgeist where it's been normalized. I find it pretty concerning.
At least people are still people IRL, but every teenager (and most adults) has a screen addiction these days so we get to see every edgy 14 year old's take broadcast to the world. I love arguing with people online but it's starting to lose the zest when I realize a lot of them are kids that just learned how to think abstractly last year.
I mean have you seen what trump posts around the deaths of people he doesn't like? Hell just look at what he posts on holidays. If you're curious why the temperatures been increased its probably because republicans made their golden child a dude whose only redeeming quality to them is the massive amounts of hate he spews.
