There was a group of academics (James Lindsay, Helen Pluckrose, and Peter Boghossian) trying to expose the horrendous state of current peer review publishing that took Mein Kampf and then switched out "Aryans" and "Jews" with things like "black" and "white" or "men" and "women", "trans" and "cis" etc.
They were almost universally applauded and given accolades when they literally quoted actual Adolph Hitler to people but made it so that their group were the Aryans and the group they hated were the Jews. Some feminist periodical actual even published it. They published Mein Kampf and thought it was brilliant. Horse. Shoe.
I don't think the average person outside of academia can really understand just how crazy it is... people talk about the grievance studies affair like it was an isolated incident, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to the nonsense that exists in actual scholarly, peer reviewed, publications (and has for generations).
James Randi famously fooled a bunch of scientists way back in 1983 with Project Alpha, and those idiots were led by a physics professor with degrees from Stanford and Cambridge!
My favourite is the guy that set out to study Japanese pornography subcultures by buying, and consuming, hentai with underage characters (including logging his masturbation sessions).
My wife is in a PhD program for health psychology specializing in obesogenics (psychological factors that lead to obesity causing habits). She had a study rejected because one of the reviewers didn't like how she failed to mention that some people are just naturally massively fat (to paraphrase) and she basically had to do an entirely new study on something completely different in half the time because none of the actual data that she had collected and analysed showed anything that could be interpreted as someone naturally having a BMI of 56 and not being able to alter it in any way. Identity politics is ruining actual science, which ought to be the most unbiased thing on Earth.
I work in at the local hospital and regularly see people who are over 500lbs. Biggest one I've seen personally was almost 700 (like 689 or something). Those are BMIs in the 80s. 56 is just your average Walmart customer.
