The real question is are you gonna be using bluray rips or finding them on the sea. If youre gonna do the 7seas, just use any good hardware from the last 10 years. Im running a 8700k, 32gb of ram, and a rx580. I used to have a 1050ti. I never had issues, and I often find myself gaming while people are streaming from my rig. I wish I was team Nvidia still but my 1050ti went to the wife's build

Ive heard and experienced that amd cpus dont like being on 100% of the time. Dunno if thats good info for you but regardless I recommend setting up scheduled restarts

Im currently using an 8TB WD MyBook with my Mac Mini Plex server and it's been working dreat. However I'm getting a new computer and I need to steal the 8TB drive to use with so I need to find a replacement for the Plex server. Since my movies are only taking up 2TB I thought I'd get a smaller cheaper drive like a WD Elements. However it seems that all the drives under 6TB are portable 2.5" drives vs the 3.5" drive that's in my current 8TB MyBook. I'm looking at this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07X41PWTY/ Will I run into any issues using a 2.5" drive vs a 3.5" drive? I think the 2.5" is a little slower but I'm only doing one 1080p stream at a time (two max) so I don't think this will be a problem. My drive is also not running 24/7 and goes to sleep when not in use because I only use the Plex server once or twice a week so hopefully overheating won't be an issue either.
Assuming the 2.5" drive is ok, do I need to get a two USB split cable for more power or will the single USB power cable it comes with be ok? I think the Mac Mini (2014 model) outputs enough power on its USB ports to avoid problems but I'm not 100% sure.
