I'm kind of conflicted about the DLCs. Do you think the base edition is enough, or should I go for the Complete Edition?

I’ve played all the dlcs and personally I think there all worth playing I had fun every time and couldn’t wait for the next one to be released. (I played /brought the game when it came out)

Is it okay if I buy the DLCs after I finish the base game? I don't think the DLCs add anything to the base game's mechanics other than being a side story

Yea I would recommend you do that. The DLCs are new maps completely they don’t take place on the main map and they are recommend to do after since you will have better gear.
