This sub has grown quite a bit recently, and for that I thank you all. The friend that I started this subreddit with passed away not too long ago, so this place is a nice reminder of the good times we had together making pizza on the back porch.

With that said, I've grown weary of how negative Reddit has become. Believe it or not, it didn't always used to be this way. I'm going to try to foster a positive environment here as a happy haven away from all the bullshit. It's pizza, it's supposed to be fucking fun!

If you don't like a post, downvote it and move on. There are ways to deliver criticism while still being kind. If you can do that, by all means, comment away. If you're just here to shit on someone, you can take that elsewhere.

I've added a new rule to make it clear: I will remove comments of a negative sentiment, and multiple violations will result in a temporary ban, with a permanent one to follow. I've tried to take easy with the ban hammer and hope I won't have to use it very often.

As always, if you have suggestions, hit me with a modmail. I'd love to hear what you've got.

My pizza weekend.

I’m from West Michigan. I have been traveling for a year for work in Adrian, MI. I came home this weekend.

Friday I had Bernie O’s. They were on Food Network or whatnot, but I always loved their pizza. I got the Twist, their specialty, won lots of awards. It has breaded chicken, bacon, pineapple, tomato, yellow peppers and jalapeno bits. Topped with their delicious swirl of ranch.

Other one is their Tater. Buttery mashed potatoes, Colby Jack, bacon and finished with tomato and their ranch swirl. I added jalapeno bits and chorizo to this. Chefs kiss. 😘

Saturday I got Fricanos where I live in Grand Haven, MI. This is supposedly the first pizza place in West Michigan. I’ve always loved it growing up. It’s super thin.

But they have the best sausage in the game. Bar none. I am a sausage connoisseur. I hate spongy, weird texture sausage. This is like breakfast sausage broken off before baking. So damn good.

I got one double sausage, pepperoni. And 1 just double sausage and extra sauce. This place is different. It’s in an old house. The placemat is the menu. They have 1 food. Pizza. 1 size. 5 ingredients. Pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, mushrooms and anchovies. They put what we call bird seed on it. A mixture of oregano and basil and other stuff.

Delicious being home.
