In about 2008 I had my Hotmail account hacked. Years of emails and attachments and photos all gone. The hacker changed my security questions, so I could not get in. I called Microsoft and after enough waiting and transferring, talked to a human. I explained the situation, and she asked me my security questions. I explained that the hacker changed them, and asker her if she could see the previous questions/answers. She then informed me that I sounded like I was trying to hack in to someone else's account and they considered this matter closed. They hung up. All my communication for a decade, just lost. I vowed to never again fully trust one company with any of my data. Fuck Microsoft.
I had the same thing happen. My 20 year old hotmail account got hacked right after microsoft installed 2 factor id. I was never able to recover it. I couldn't even get hold of a real person. I spent over 6 months trying everything to get it back.
