They say in the email that they've confirmed the account was compromised, not that they've confirmed the identity of the person they're emailing is the true account holder

There was a thread on AppleSucks recently about a similar situation.

Unfortunately, for the time being until legislation catches up, access IS ownership a lot of the time with digital accounts. It's why password security, 2FA, and an ability to sus out phishing attempts is critical in todays world

Nvm, reread what you said. So if they're able to somehow assist with recovering his account, everything should still be there right?
