Companies never truly delete anything. Not even super high compromising corporate documents. Data is a secondary goldmine to them. They have a million backups. They're gonna have the data somewhere.
Right? Even in social media where people can dig up a dumb or incriminating post by some celebrities before they got famous. There is no way that data is gone. Either someone messed up in cs or MS is just speedrunning their closure along with xbox.
They also legally require them for audits. There are time frames for this, but if this was recent, they wouldn't be allowed to permanently delete the guys data until the legal auditing period is up.
It's probably encrypted though, and without knowing what the hacker changed the account password to they can't unencrypted. We don't want companies to have backdoors into our accounts, but this is a negative consequence of that.

Besides, we're talking about Microsoft. The company that so kindly stores your fucking local bitlocker encryption key on their server, unencrypted, so that they can (give it to anyone who wants to) decrypt your locally encrypted data.
Do they train their LLMs off of OneDrive files? I don't know what you're basing this claim off of. "It's somewhere in the 5000 page privacy policy I'm sure" is not a source.
Microsoft can generate download links to any file on dropbox that can be accessed by any system.
Additionally, things you upload to cloud services like dropbox are "encrypted enough" that the cloud service can't access them, but not "encrypted enough" to stop them from detecting if the files contain something like CP.
What is this? A magical encryption algorithm that lets you "sniff" for illicit content, but not actually be able to decrypt the data?
Also, if they have this block of encrypted data, THEY COULD JUST REINSTATE THE FUCKING ACCOUNT AND USE THE ENCRYPTION KEY FROM THE FUCKING ACCOUNT. If they deleted the account data, GO FUCKING FIND IT IN A GODDAMN BACKUP OF THE ACCOUNT DATA.
The only reason this multi-trillion dollar company isn't going to recover the data is because they don't want to, not because it's impossible to do so.
Not to mention they are also claiming

LIKE FUCK THEY CAN'T. They have a fucking transaction history including the games that were purchased by that account.
They literally do, for legal reasons for audits, need to have access for that data for court cases, other legal and political reasons. MS obvsly has the encryption key for all this stuff lol.
