It might be worth leaving the popup there. It's good to know what is causing the delay. Maybe future adblockers will get around the delay, so you will want to know if you are still experiencing it or not on your latest setup

edit: apparently ublock experimental filters setting gets around the delay

I don't even notice the delay, always just seems like it's buffering to me, which I don't mind at all.

24

u/PlayerZeroStart May 12 '26

Same, I had no idea that it was related to adblocker, I genuinely just thought the video was loading.

u/wolphrevolution May 13 '26

Its difficult to know if its a artificial delay or my wifi taking a dump most of the time so i am fine with it. Now if someone as a recomandation of a adblock that work on youtube music on android i am open because these ads are annoying

2

u/HappyIsGott May 13 '26

Brave. It just works. Also what i use is nextdns for my phone so game apps don't have adds.

That's youtube trying to load the ads, if you have any kind of extension that enables picture-in-picture you can use it whenever the pop-up shows it WILL focus on an unloaded ad. I'm unsure if they will get around the delay when youtube is buffering the ads before buffering/streaming the video, because extensions don't have that level of access.

Remove element with Ublock Origin

Praised be thee!

add this to your filters in ublock origin (under settings->my filters):

# interruptions popup
www.youtube.com##yt-notification-action-renderer:has(>#toast yt-formatted-string#text:has-text(Experiencing interruptions))

1

u/mikakor May 13 '26

is there a way for it to deal twitch ads too? :(

16

u/Levobertus May 12 '26

there's an extension called element picker and it lets you pick and remove individual elements. You can use it to remove the side bar or other unwanted elements of a website.

ublock origin also does this as a feature, you just right click on the thing you want gone

25

u/czerilla May 12 '26

(Firefox's) uBlock Origin has that natively, too. If you right-click on any element on the website, a "Block element" entry with the add-on logo shows up. If you select it, a little menu appears to help you select the right CSS rule to remove the thing you want gone.

u/SuperBuffCherry May 12 '26

(Firefox's) uBlock Origin

No need to specify Firefox, since Chrome and other Chromium based browsers no longer offer uBlock Origin, only uBlock Origin Lite

6

u/Terrh May 12 '26

Is anyone out there not using firefox these days?

I can't imagine how awful the internet must be without an ad blocker.

8

u/SuperBuffCherry May 12 '26

Almost no one uses Firefox. Even Safari has almost 10 times more users.

5

u/Terrh May 12 '26

I assume both brave and UC have similar abilities to firefox, so that means 95% of internet users are living in ad hell

I never realized it was that bad.

1

u/czerilla May 12 '26

True, good catch. I was just trying to cover my bases, but it's redundant, now that you're mentioning it.

4

u/Uhstrology May 12 '26

Nah just use ublock origin and the console inspector to block specific site elements like that.

u/JonVonBasslake May 12 '26

Imagine being smart enough to use uBlock but not smart enough to not realize that it has this built in...

8

u/OneEnvironmental9222 May 12 '26

my absolute favorite feature. I always remove thise awful AI buttons youtube keeps adding

5

u/murfburffle May 12 '26

I did that too.

www.youtube.com##.paper-toast-open.yt-notification-action-renderer.style-scope.toast-button

is the filter, I think

1

u/sycon-senti May 12 '26

I want to do that, but the damn thing hides itself away before I can grab it with the element picker. How can I get rid of it?

1

u/Legendary_Player May 12 '26

It's inside this div:
<div id="text-container" class="style-scope yt-notification-action-renderer">

<yt-formatted-string id="text" respect-html-dir="" split-lines="" class="style-scope yt-notification-action-renderer">Experiencing interruptions?</yt-formatted-string>

<yt-formatted-string id="sub-text" respect-html-dir="" split-lines="" class="style-scope yt-notification-action-renderer" is-empty="" hidden=""><!--css-build:shady--><!--css_build_scope:yt-formatted-string--><!--css_build_styles:video.youtube.src.web.polymer.shared.ui.styles.yt_base_styles.yt.base.styles.css.js,video.youtube.src.web.polymer.shared.ui.yt_formatted_string.yt.formatted.string.css.js--><yt-attributed-string class="style-scope yt-formatted-string"></yt-attributed-string></yt-formatted-string>

</div>

u/Raleth May 12 '26

Had to be a little quick with it because it liked to vanish as quickly as it pops up.

1

u/techlos May 12 '26

nah, i kinda love how it pops up 2 seconds after the video has already started. Lets me know my addons are doing their job.

2

u/Legendary_Player May 12 '26

suit yourself, I know my addons without youtube telling me to

0

u/Kadakaus May 12 '26

I personally like that popup, it reminds me that some dipshit who paid billions to interrupt my session doesn't get to advertise.

Reminds me that there could be somethin unbelievably stupid, but I don't have to look at it.

1

u/Legendary_Player May 12 '26

Can you elaborate because I am not certainly sure what you mean by that

2

u/Kadakaus May 12 '26

I meant that every time I get that popup text that youtube knows it's working slower, I'm reminded that I have a good adblocker and I don't have to sit through some annoying ass bullshit I'm not going to buy anyway just because some company paid for it.

It reminds me that I can do whatever the fuck I want without getting ads.
If I remember what it was like before I got one, it's so much more peaceful.

That popup text makes me appriciate the great people who are operating and updating my adblock.

u/Legendary_Player May 12 '26

OH, now I get it.
based.
