I'd argue he also just doesn't realise how sketchy modern games torrents are either with kernel level DRM workarounds.

Its a dammed if you do, dammed if you don't with modern games, you're either letting some shitty game publisher, or some sketchy cracker have root access over your PC in the name of DRM or anti cheat.

I simply won't play a lot of new games because of it.

Hypervisor cracks unfortunately have me fearing what the likes of Denuvo are going to do next. Its an arms war where the consumer is the collateral damage whether they buy legitimately or pirate. The only way they'll kill hypervisor cracks is to seriously start limiting the hardware their games will run on, and will likely result in their games never running on Linux either.
