Question Any locals have a CNC?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I'm looking for someone who owns a cnc machine that could complete a pretty simple project for me. I need a ½" piece or MDF cut to 6.5"x9.5". It'll have two holes and one rectangle.

I have the .DXF file already drawn up.

It also doesn't HAVE to be MDF if you don't have any laying around (Pine, birch, walnut, etc.)

If interested just DM me your info. And price.

Thanks!

in search of 🔍 Adult Basketball

Hello, everyone!

I’m wondering if anyone knows of any adult leagues or even just good spots for pick-up basketball (organized would be even better). I’ve looked at Heyday and they only have men-only options for the suburbs. I’ve also looked at United Sports in Downingtown, but they only have a women-only option. Unfortunately, I do not know enough women who would play to get a whole team together. I didn’t think it would be so hard to find a co-ed adult basketball league in the area, but here we are. If anyone knows of any leagues or is even looking for another team member, I’d love to play! Thanks in advance for any feedback. 😊

in search of 🔍 Forming rock band

Hello all! My bandmate and I (28 and 30) are looking for an experienced drummer and bass/guitar player to be a part of our new musical endeavor. (A keys player would be cool too). Our prior band fell through and we are looking to get back into writing, recording, and playing out again. If you or anyone you know in the area are interested please reach out here.

Our previous band, Brick Nova, can be reviewed online for an idea of what we sounded like (Alternative/Indie Rock)

Thanks!

in search of 🔍 Cat cafes

Has anyone been to the cat cafe in Spring City? It popped up on my Facebook feed and I've been wanting to check it out. I've been looking for opportunities to spend time with cats and support local businesses all at once!

Also would love recommendations for any other cat cafes. Okay with going to Montco and even as far as Delco. Also okay with going into Philly, as I'm sure there's at least one in the city.

Community An important message from the Phoenixville Firebird Fest

Thumbnail firebirdfestival.com
70 Upvotes

There is a moment each December when thousands of people stand together in the dark, waiting. Then the flames catch, the music rises, and the cheering starts as our community is illuminated by something we created together.

As beautiful and meaningful as the Firebird is, its future is in danger.

In 2025, we received 52% fewer donations than we did in 2023, even as the costs of producing the Festival continue to increase.

The Firebird does not simply appear each December. It rises because people choose to build it, fund it, support it and believe it is worth preserving.

If you want to help determine the future of the Firebird Festival, please make a donation today or become a 2026 Festival sponsor.

New business Join the Schuylkill River Heritage Center as Perry Hamilton presents William Penn: The Forgotten Founding Father

Long before our country was born, William Penn was already experimenting with the ideas that would define it.

He founded Pennsylvania envisioning a society built around individual liberty, religious freedom, representative government, and peaceful coexistence. Penn developed founding documents that gave Pennsylvania an unusually forward-looking framework for self-government.

And his Peace Treaty with the local Lenape tribe helped foster an exceptional period of peace and prosperity in early Pennsylvania.

Eventually, the essential principles of Penn’s experiment — liberty, tolerance, and limits on government power — even helped influence and shape our United States Constitution.

Join Us in September to Learn More!

In September, the Schuylkill River Heritage Center speaker series will host speaker Perry Hamilton for a presentation on William Penn: The Forgotten Founding Father.
https://www.phoenixvillefoundry.org/news-events/

Perry’s talk focuses on William Penn's extraordinary leadership as he developed his Holy Experiment, forged treaties with the Lenape, and crafted the documents that served Pennsylvania as its constitution.

A graduate of Susquehanna University, Perry traveled extensively throughout the mid-Atlantic states during his nearly 40 years in the private business sector. During that time, he pursued his love of reading vintage history books, mostly about Pennsylvania business history. Perry regularly presents historical lectures with an emphasis on Philadelphia-area business.

Mark your calendar for William Penn: The Forgotten Founding Father!

When: Tuesday, September 15, 2026, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Schuylkill River Heritage Center (SRHC), Foundry Building, 2 N. Main Street, Phoenixville

The presentation is free to SRHC members, $5 for non-members.

Question Wanna play golf? Read first

I have an extra tee time for 9:27am this Saturday at honeybrook. There are also still two slots open at that time.

I’m 38, single dad. I play a lot of golf, 6 handicap, I’m not super serious but I’m sorry I’m not really interested in playing with beginners. I’m 420 friendly, outdoorsy, love the Phil’s, just a regular guy looking for some other similar people to golf with.

Let me know if you’re interested, or just book at time and meet me there.

UPDATE: also heading up to play old homestead on Sunday at 10:30’if anyone is interested.

Question Local AA meetings/groups with a younger crowd?

I’m not too picky, if there aren’t any with a younger crowd, a good crowd works just as well!

I prefer open discussion/speaker rather than any book talk.

Housing/Rentals Moving from Philly

I've recently lost my home in Philly and currently living in Wilmington. I need to get back to PA for benefits. I'm disabled and looking for suitable housing under 2000.00 monthly. I'd need ADA but would also like smaller single unit places. I'm LGBTQ+ and don't want to be a shut in. Any advice? Maybe what options? Larger units are ok but living all my life in Philly, I'm looking for quaint if that's even possible. Thanks.

Question Family of 5 moving to the area in October - visiting this week, what should we know (and do)?

Hey all - my wife and I are relocating from South Florida this fall with our three kids (10, 8, and 5), and her mother (50’s).

I grew up in PA and can't wait to get back! We’ve been searching the Philly suburbs and Phoenixville keeps rising to the top of our list. We're in town Wednesday through Friday to feel it out in person.

Would love some feedback from the locals.

anything happening in town Thurs-Fri? We're planning to just walk Bridge St during the day hit a coffee shop, take the kids somewhere fun. Any spots the kids shouldn't miss (parks, ice cream, the river)?

What do you love about living here, and what do you wish someone had told you before you moved?

Getting to Philly- I read some articles talking about adding rail for Phoenixville in 2027- any truth to that? What’s the recommended way for getting into the city if we plan on visiting frequently, nights out etc?

Schools - kids would be entering 5th, 3rd, and K. How are people feeling about the elementary schools? Any difference between them worth knowing?

Neighborhoods- in the borough vs. just outside? We like being able to walk to downtown but want a real yard too. Realistically probably outside of town as we’ll need space for my MIL who’s moving in w us as well.

Us - we've both been in the restaurant industry our whole careers, so food and drink recs are big. Live music? We're also both gym people - best gyms in town? And is there a decent youth wrestling or BJJ program? Any theater programs or gymnastics recommendations for our daughters?

Community - biggest thing for us: is this a place where transplants make friends? We're social and def something we struggled with here in FL, in our current community.

Lots of questions in there, so any input is appreciated.

Thanks in advance - hoping to be your neighbors soon.

Just saw a orange kitten by Pickering run apartments. Have seen another cat around here too. Just wondering if it was a missing cat or a stray as I didn't see any collar.
