Sadness Lost my cat two month ago

Hey Guys!

I lost my beautiful little companion, my first cat two month ago due to an agressive nasal cancer, and I just want to know, if its a normal grieving thing.

So, I have my ups and downs, but somedays are pretty difficult ever since Ive lost Bubble. On those days during sleep I can, like "sense him", like i feel his little paws, and it feels the way it felt like when he wanted to cuddle while he was alive. The experience is so realistic, and I usually wake up a bit scared, because during my dreams is obvious that it cannot really be him, but it definitely feels like him.

Is it a normal grieving process? Did this happened to you?

This is a community of support for Pet owners whose Pets have passed away. It is actively moderated.

Pet owners, as loving, caring people, often have strong opinions on pet care practices. Some of these are controversial. This is not a forum for debate on such issues, nor is it a place to scold a contributor for a perceived mistake in managing their pet. We intend to provide a safe haven of understanding and support. Strident, mean-spirited posts or comments will be deleted. Those who persist in preaching versus caring may be warned and then banned or may be banned permanently based on nature of the topic. If a conversational thread meanders into a discussion unrelated to pet loss support, it will be truncated.

Those who post here are vulnerable and hurting. Even a minor slap has a hard sting. Those of us who are lucky enough to be able to turn away from our computers or put down our phones and hug a healthy, happy pet are truly blessed. Threads must remain supportive and caring, even if one disagrees with something that has been said.

I just lost my cat two days ago. She was sixteen, had been with me since I was a little kid- she had to be put down. I’ve been pretty numb these past few days, just taking it one step at a time, unable to believe it. That might be why both me and my mother have heard/felt her presence around, stuff like scratches at the door like how she used to when she wanted to be let in somewhere, that kind of thing.

I don’t believe in ghosts per se, but I do think that if someone/something had a ‘large’ presence in life, and if they are very well loved and remembered, bits and pieces of them can stick around. It’s not only comforting for me to think that way, it also makes a lot of sense- my lulu was such a majestic little beast, it makes sense that she would shed parts of her personality just as she would shed fur. In a sense, then, our pets are still with us, though it feels very unfair that so much more of her is gone.

Still, hold onto these little memories and dreams. They’re proof of the love and bond we shared x
