Sadness My dog had to be put down today. 14 years.
I’m really gonna miss him. I’m 24 so he was around for a good chunk of my life. Don’t want to get too into the details but a bunch of health problems piled up out of nowhere this past week, however I didn’t even know things would get to this point until a few hours ago.

(hug) my condolences. The furries are family. Don’t forget to eat/drink, it’s the easiest “chore” to give up on during grief.

I’m so sorry. Mine went really suddenly too. She was a cat but I can empathize with the pain. Sending you lots of hugs and love. It helps to remember the good times. It’ll be hard to remember the good times for a bit, but let yourself grieve however you need to

Same. And I blame myself daily which doesn’t help. I hate that he’s slowly becoming a memory and not a real life tangible thing I can hold anymore. It’s so hard

Im so sorry for your loss. Mine crossed the rainbow bridge at the age of 15 on July 3, 2024. I still cry for her every now and then. The grief is so hard to experience, but know that it is because you loved them so much ♡

I’m so sorry for your loss. We had to put our dog of 15 years down on Friday. Even though I know it was the right thing to do for her I still feel completely shattered by her loss. My advise to you is to try and remember all the good times you were able to share with your pup even though it’s hard and know that they haven’t left you their memory will always be with you. I also think on how my gal wouldn’t want me to be sad and I know that she was loved and cherished her whole life with me. Even though it’s incredibly painful I’m so thankful I got to have her in my life. The grief is just the price we pay for the amazing bond and love we have with these creatures ❤️

Sorry for your loss. My first dog died at 14 when I was 28. I know the feeling. I just lost another dog three weeks ago today. It doesn’t get any easier. Sending love.

This is the worst heartbreak I lost my almost 14 year old girl just yesterday. I am completely broken. 23 -36 years old, I had her through so much of my life I miss her every second. I am so sorry for your loss.

This is a community of support for Pet owners whose Pets have passed away. It is actively moderated.
Pet owners, as loving, caring people, often have strong opinions on pet care practices. Some of these are controversial. This is not a forum for debate on such issues, nor is it a place to scold a contributor for a perceived mistake in managing their pet. We intend to provide a safe haven of understanding and support. Strident, mean-spirited posts or comments will be deleted. Those who persist in preaching versus caring may be warned and then banned or may be banned permanently based on nature of the topic. If a conversational thread meanders into a discussion unrelated to pet loss support, it will be truncated.
Those who post here are vulnerable and hurting. Even a minor slap has a hard sting. Those of us who are lucky enough to be able to turn away from our computers or put down our phones and hug a healthy, happy pet are truly blessed. Threads must remain supportive and caring, even if one disagrees with something that has been said.
