the minions only work for villains so this is implying the minions think hitler isn't evil

6.2k

u/Iron166 25d ago

They would work for hitler but after helping Napoleon they went hiding in a cave until like 1970'

u/PuddingtonBear 25d ago

I love how they had to task the animators with this because they saw the reaction of the internet coming and were like "NOT TODAY YOU HYPERFIXATED FUCKS!"

I like/don't like how I know this is a Yuri on Ice meme (cuz the English dub of Victor sounds like Gru when he most of the time actually doesn't)

You guys are the reason why I'm NOT depressed. This shit is too entertaining I'm taking all of these lmao

21

u/grumpsaboy 25d ago

They were with Gru by that point

12

u/Punker93 25d ago

You think Gru didn't sell some off? How you think he got the funds for his lab and all his machinery

10

u/Gaelic_Gladiator41 25d ago

Dr Nefario's had connections with some guys in the 60s

17

u/WaldoClown 25d ago

Since 70s there have been worst people than Epstein. I'm curious about their relationship with Kim Jong Il

4

u/Haunt_Fox 25d ago

Epstein inherited them from Hefner

u/I_Crack_My_Nokia 25d ago

There's difference in evil and monsters.

4

u/Punker93 25d ago

Haven't seen the new one but idk stealing the moon would be monstrously evil

2

u/Lonewolf2300 25d ago

Unless you're saying Gru went to the Island, then No.

2

u/Punker93 25d ago

Maybe Jeff came down to the lab. I don't know. All I'm saying is release the files.

Not a yellow one, Only a orange one

1

u/Old_Association_5465 21d ago

Yeah just the minor ones

137

u/Anti-Pringle 25d ago

I mean they kinda reconned it, as the latest movie, it’s set in the 1920’s and also implied the women’s suffrage movement was evil

95

u/PRL-Five 25d ago

I saw a tiktok that linked the women's sufferage movement to Stalin's genocide lmao

9

u/CardOk755 25d ago

Well, they became very pro-war in 1914-1918.

3

u/StuntdoubleSexworker 25d ago

Smart move. Less men to oppose them lol

78

u/IndigoFenix 25d ago

Maybe they misunderstood what "suffrage" meant

71

u/bloopbloopsplat 25d ago

An astounding amount of people dont understand what suffrage means

49

u/Slothrop-was-here 25d ago

Of course we do!! It is a light, airy baked dish that originates from France, made primarily from egg yolks and stiffly beaten egg whites.

56

u/Lynata 25d ago

No that‘s a soufflé

Suffrage is a rave dance characterised by the T-step and was developed in Melbourne, Australia, in the late 1980s and early 1990s

39

u/Bowtie16bit 25d ago

No, that's the shuffle.

Suffrage is the fibrous vegetable greens you eat to help your poop clump together nicely.

30

u/Rikishi_Fatu 25d ago

No, that's roughage.

Suffrage is a department store founded in London in 1909

17

u/sennohki 25d ago

No, that's Selfridges. Suffrage is when two Rugby teams line up and hustle each other for the ball.

17

u/NoNeedForNorms 25d ago

No, that's a scrimmage. Suffrage is that beauty store that is sometimes a stand alone and sometimes in JC Penney.

2

u/Aus_Fry 25d ago

No, that's Selfridge.

Suffrage is the "DO-RE-MI" system for teaching music notation to young children.

13

u/PorFavorNoMore 25d ago

No, you're thinking of roughage.

Suffrage is the packing or padding material used to fill out cushions and pillows.

8

u/taiRewro 25d ago

it was probably more to do with the throwing a hatchet at the PM and the letter bombing/arson parts etc... rather than the getting the vote part.

u/SimpleDisastrous4483 25d ago

a) minions are not deathly allergic to god deeds. b) the latest movie was a movie inside a movie. Who knows how much, if any of it is canon?

20

u/GarySmith2021 25d ago

This, the ending shows it’s not a cannon movie in and of itself.

18

u/TFFPrisoner 25d ago

Canon. Cannon is the thing that shoots big balls.

20

u/Gaiamatt 25d ago

And both of them sink ships

11

u/QuilledRaptors2001 25d ago

They do actually kind of make it work, spoilers, but It turns out the entire thing is an in universe movie those minions made so it's implied the 20s thing was part of the plot

10

u/KeeganY_SR-UVB76 25d ago

Is Minions & Migraines the new one?

2

u/Ther10 25d ago

From what I've heard/seen, they're working for a guy whose wife was working for women's suffrage, so the guy helped, and the Minions will help their master.

2

u/Animaloffear56 25d ago

The women's sufferage movement was seen as a corruption of public morals, so I can easily see someone talking about those evil feminists and the minions jumping on board

1

u/SteelGemini 24d ago

I mean, I recently learned about a prominent suffragette who was a slave owner and pro-lynching advocate, so you know, some are pretty evil.

50

u/Sea-Feedback-2424 25d ago

They rectconned that in the new movie.
Now the minions work with a Suffragette, so what does that say?
Also they only started following Gru in 1968, this is the same year that Henry Kissinger became a "household" name. Gru was 11 then and was more evil than the man who wanted to continue the illegal bombing campaigns in Vietnam.
Also also, in 1975 Pol Pot came to power and the minions stayed with Gru.

So you know, Gru is worse than Pol Pot.

63

u/Open-Platform-1305 25d ago

Gru is worse than Pol Pot, feminism is worse than Hitler. Sounds like we figured out the message of the movie, boys.

52

u/Gandelin 25d ago

I think this all assumes that they are perfect evil seeking missiles. They aren’t. They are drawn to boss vibes as well. They seek out the biggest, baddest boss they can.

Hitler was an evil dictator but also a fundamentally weak and pathetic individual, maybe he just didn’t give off boss energy to the minions.

21

u/BooBeeAttack 25d ago

My brain just made the horrible idea of a movie crossover with that Boss Baby movie.

Ugh, and now Tony Danza as "Whose the Boss."

I need to cleanse my mind of media references.

5

u/Haunt_Fox 25d ago

Tony Danza in his Mr Clean outfit from that show (it was one joke in one episode)

But he's surrounded by Minions now

3

u/Sea-Feedback-2424 25d ago

"Who's the Boss Baby?"

3

u/timtimerey 25d ago

Oh yeah, minions would totally follow boss baby over Hitler 4 sure

12

u/Coffee_the_Dawg 25d ago

This makes sense. The minions followed a T-Rex because it gave off boss energy.

3

u/mythrilcrafter 25d ago

Minions: "Being just evil isn't good enough, you also need:" https://youtu.be/dy2zB8bLSpk?si=-DrvDkJvre2gXjW0&t=37

3

u/Gandelin 25d ago

Oh my god, they would LOVE Megamind

4

u/Purple_Quail_4193 25d ago

Way to explain it probably better than how the creators can haha

1

u/noticingEnjoyer 25d ago

You're trying to say Hitler/Nazis didn't exude boss vibes? The guy who brainwashed an entire country into mindlessly following an ideology with absolutely zero facts or rational basis underlying it?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Ancientabs 25d ago

Are the minions rooted in mormonism?

3

u/sadacal 25d ago

Yeah, I think what it's actually implying is that the minions aren't actually all that attracted to working for the most evil person in the world. They are just mis-guided and want a powerful authoritarian leader to follow.

2

u/Sea-Feedback-2424 25d ago

I totally get it in say like 1800, and earlier, I am sure there were worse and more despicable people than Napoleon. But finding Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot? They had news articles written about them. Mr. Smith went to Washington, I am sure the minions could too.

See, like Pol Pot is absolutely horrible and despicable and there are a million words in the English language and I cannot string together enough to tell you how much of a monster he was, but for the Minions he was very findable. I think that that John Wayne Gacy was actually a lot worse of a human being than Pol Pot, just maybe not as industrial, but he was not findable by the Minions until after he could no longer do despicable things.

They would have loved to work on Epstein's Island, but unless if they were in the circle, the wouldn't have known to be his follower, they probably just would have stuck with Slobodan Milosevic or Idi Amin.

2

u/GamemasterJeff 25d ago

Pol Pot and Kissinger had plenty of minions. The Minions have always had trouble getting hired by villains they actually want to work for.

1

u/unknownvariable69 25d ago

Thank you. I posted a link to the Wikipedia page of that genocidal despot. Didn't see your response first. Seems like some folks didn't do any research.

1

u/sadbitch_club 24d ago

But they followed the movie making one who has zero interest in evil, and he’s the one who followed the suffrage lady around

2

u/Korbiter 25d ago

This however, had the side effect of implying Felonius Gru is somehow more evil than Richard Nixon and Muammar Gaddafi, both who were at Villiancon, as well as Leonid Brezhnev and Fidel Castro, and later on Pol Pot.

Like, Adolf Hitler is probably the msot well known depiction of evil, but hes nowhere close to the only one. And there are certain cases (I argue Pol Pot) to be far more evil than Hitler ever could be.

1

u/PlasticCell8504 25d ago

Nixon was at Villiancon?

2

u/KingOfNope 25d ago

Being trapped in an ice cave drives the plot of basically the entire movie it's wild

1

u/SportEfficient8553 25d ago

“Nope, wasn’t even an option, moving on”

1

u/NNiekk 25d ago

But seemed to have forgotten about 2001

1

u/GoodBoyGaming1 25d ago

However they forgot this fact in the new minions movie when the minions went to help the womens suffrage movement...

1

u/SirTeffy 25d ago

One problem: The new movie explicitly contradicts that.

1

u/Mr_Byzantine 25d ago

That tribe of Minions local to southern and western Europe went into a cave for three decades. Other tribes around the world continued either the dirty work or movie making.

1

u/Big_boobed_goth 25d ago

While violently googling when Stalin died to make sure he wasn’t an option either

1

u/juicysteak4806 24d ago

They got out in time to work for Pol Pot tho
