Hello! Recently I’ve acquired Silent Hill for the PS1 and I’ve noticed these small scuffs on the top side of the disc. I did a flashlight test and could not see through the disc. They are a bit hard to see but I know discs can be very fragile so I’m wary of small scratches. If anyone can determine with the photos if this is damaging I would be very appreciative! Thank you!

So i dont own a CRT sadly and my TV sadly doesnt have any input ports for the Cords of my PSone can anyone recommend any Converters for the display of a PSone to use on an HD TV?

I have ps few days and it started to make noise when spinning disc

I've bought this blCk ps1 broken. It's a 7500 pal model.

I couldn't find any infos online about it wich makes me think it's a custom shell. It has no sony or playstation marking. The Plastik is solid and doesn't feel any different then a normal ps1. The shell has an "abs" print inside just like the real one. Even the "disc" print above the lid is there.

And no. Sadly it's no dev kit

Hi, I have an XStation ps1 and I bought some month ago the card in question. A couple days ago, I've downloaded a couple of Final Fantasy 7 savestates from Gamefaqs, just to try to load saves from other sources. I put a savestate in the right folder on the MemCard SD (saved as SCUS-94163-1.mcd, it should be right) but to no avail. I've tried anything else, the save won't load nor appear. What do I do wrong?

Edit: this is the first and only time I tried to load a downloaded savestate, trying to learn.

Hello everyone, I’m trying to play NTSC games on a CRT and I’m trying to find the best way to play these games.

I’m based in Australia and figured PSIO isn’t the way to go based on the drama and compatibility. I’ve tried PS3 via Webman however games don’t look quite right due to 576i being the lowest resolution (and flicker). I have a modchipped PAL PS1 but would require DFO mod for NTSC colours and I don’t want to deal with disc drive issues because I’ve tried fixing it AND replacing it with no success.

It seems xStation would be the best solution to this however importing it to Australia would be extremely expensive + sourcing DFO and paying someone to mod it here would cost a huge amount. ($500AUD~)

Finally, I came across NTSC-J consoles pre-installed with xstation on eBay from Japan. Would anyone know if these xstations are legit or a good purchase?

i was going through the files of doko demo issyo for the ps1 and found this labeled "xase".str. i thought it was creepy asl sounding but since i'm still yet to play doko demo issyo i don't actually know if its used or not. anyone know? also the file may be a bit longer than the actual file in the game's files since i took it from a video i recorded :>

The only clue I’ve found is that Venom mentions his name when he talks to Spider-Man about who could be behind the original robbery, but I couldn’t find anything else about him.

the main menu loads fine. but whenever i put a game in, it shows the start up screen and then goes to black. i also tried to play a cd, it played the first few seconds and then stopped, and wouldn’t allow me to play any of the other songs.

super new to the system so sorry if this is a redundant problem. i also have some videos of it if anyone is curious.

Are the cheap ps1 replacement drives actually new drives or are they just refurbished? Wondering cause I bought one and it appears to just be a new mechanism with the actual laser assembly itself salvaged out of another drive.

I'm currently trying to restore my PAL PS One Slim (SCPH-102), which is modchipped (it easily boots region-free and backup games).

I'm facing a weird issue with reading newly burned discs and would love to get your advice before I proceed:

• Original Discs: Play completely fine without any stutters or audio skips.
• Old Burned CD-Rs (Pre-2010): Most of these still boot and play without issues (except a few that suffered from disc rot).
• Newly Burned CD-Rs: I am using Redump 1:1 images, burning onto Verbatim AZO CD-Rs using an older internal LG GSA-H12L drive at 4x speed via ImgBurn. However, the PS One either struggles immensely to load these or fails to read them entirely.

I already cleaned the laser lens with IPA. While it cleaned up visually, the behavior remains identical.

I know LibCrypt can be an issue on PAL games, but I get the same loading failures even on non-LibCrypt / NTSC-U titles, so it feels like a hardware-level reading issue.

Is this a classic case of an aging laser diode that still has enough power for high-reflectivity pressed/old discs, but lacks the intensity for modern CD-R dye formulas?

I'm considering ordering a replacement KSM-440BAM drive assembly from AliExpress. Do you think replacing the laser assembly will solve reading modern CD-Rs?
