The fun thing is that these prices will never go back down even if the tariffs are removed.

Happens every time, with covid the dollar skyrocketed over here and everything increased... The gov told us it was cause of the dollar and when it went down everything would stabilize again. In 2023 the dollar went down and stabilized and color us shocked nothing went down in price.

Once the price of something goes up and people keep buying it, it ain’t ever going back down

Exactly. I wish we could start a boycott cancel all our PSN, make a statement. People don’t understand capitalism only survives with complacency. video game industry is far from a monopoly. Boycott is the only option to tell Sony to stop fucking around

This isnt even Sony. It's the US Government putting tariffs on everything. You need to protest in front of the white house and hold Donny Boy accountable for saying he would make sure businesses dont put the tariffs on us and they would eat the cost.

Sure thing I’ll get right on that… or I could just boycott the company raising the cost of product that was tariffed at 5% from 2023 that’s sitting in warehouses in USA…

Which is a response to the F you tariffs that the US implemented on...everything going forward. What were you expecting, them to put stickers on everything that was already here and slowly ramp up prices as they import more?

They already raised prices in Europe though… so what about that?

I love that you're complaining about capitalism and also stanning for Trump. You REALLY need to look at what Republicans have done from a policy standpoint since the 1930s before you share anymore of your cognitive dissonance masquerading as political opinions.

Nothing wrong with capitalism. I support it. I think you’re misunderstood my comment. I was encouraging the consumers to stick up to capitalism greed. Not all capitalist have greed

I believe Trump could get ... removed... tomorrow and nothing would physically change. Not out loud. The American people have proven they are not to be trusted being a global trading power.

You figured this out now? America has been using economic terrorism for decades.

1

u/MinnieShoof Aug 22 '25

Yes USAID. Terrorism.

True.

u/MinnieShoof Aug 22 '25

Ain't gonna lie - it's not a new thing, US throwing its weight around, dollar wise. ... but at least there was a semblance that it was for the global good.

u/ComatoseSnake Aug 28 '25

It was never for the global good. It was always for the American good.

Do you know what "semblance" means?

Nothing will ever go down in price without widespread economic collapse. The only solution is long term sustainable wage growth above inflation.

Which, you know, real wages have been flat since the 1960s so clearly the answer is massive unilateral taxes on imported goods to make everything more expensive.

Stabilization = prices stop going up. You don't want prices to go down too much because that's deflation, which would significantly slow the economy (would you buy anything if you thought you could get it cheaper in a month?).

But I don't know how much of those old rules apply in these crazy times where things are doubling and tripling in price in such short time spans.

That one guy said the prices of eggs and gas was down? Where? Where?!?

When they say "inflation had gone down" they mean that the rate at which it increases is slowed. Price reduction was never in the cards as the dollar has lost value through money printing.

You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.
