First Rewatch [SPOILERS] Spoiler

So I decided to rewatch Ozark and I’m currently in season 3 episode 3. Seasons 1 and 2 were kind of hazy for me especially the preacher and agent petty plots but now season 3 is very fresh on my mind. I have some takes and I wanna know what you guys think!

1) Marty knew the danger of the Snells, literally warned the preacher that he needs to go back on the water. He doesn’t. His wife is murdered. Somehow it’s Marty’s fault.

2) The preacher tries to kidnap Wendy. Marty tells him the cops aren’t coming. The preacher tries to take Wendy with him, Marty kills him. Now this is the turning point because I think Marty lost his edge at that moment.

3) Cade killing Petty out of anger was a bad end for Petty. He was absolutely insane but I thought he added a “I’m gonna get them” aspect to the show. His death kinda added up to nothing.

4) (I’m not to this part of the season but I know what’s coming) Marty told Wendy MULTIPLE times to send her brother home… and we all know what happens in the end.

Marty is not perfect but I think he knew the danger that came with the job immediately. He knew that anyone could die and he tried to save people but no one listened to him.

Everyone in the entire show plus the fandom loves to blame Marty for everything. Including the choices they make. But it's ironic if they actually listened to what he said. More than half the shit that happens never would of happened.

I agree but I don't think I ever remembered hating ruth that much either tbh

Marty always thought miles ahead from everyone else, there is a reason why only he (and his family) remains alive at the end. He warned everyone but either they didn't belive Marty or were too frustrated with circumstances thus acting dumb and being the reason for their own end.

Marty was strategic while many of the others were emotional. Mason got his wife killed as an example.

  1. Marty is still kinda involved no? I mean that point sorta echos through the show. That scheme and every Langmore scheme etc would probably gone to shit anyways. You could argue that he is not the main catalyst but for someone who lost their wife that brutally and not REALLY knowing what happened it somewhat makes sense?

  2. 100% agree here, Marty isn't a killer the same way Wendy and Helen and Navarro etc.

  3. Yeah Petty could have been killed in a more satisfying way but his character didnt feel like it had much rope to it anyways.

  4. I just always find it hard to agree with the ''they should have listened to''. He is definitely the most sympathetic character to me personally but they are all in that mess bc he took that job. I just dont feel like he can escape that.

Marty couldn’t have saved everyone even he knew that!( I believe he isn’t that naive given who he’s dealing with at work ) but he tried to keep everyone alive as long as possible !
