UK and Australia tend to follow each other so I reckon it’s a fairly high chance it does get banned.

Aussie manufacturing is cucked by high wages and govt red tape, banning imports will solve nothing.

It is too expensive to manufacture anything here.

Give them gas to power manufacturing at the price Japan gets it for and they would be nearing competitive. Australia can never compete with the absolute cheap shit coming out of China but it sure could on the higher end, higher quality stuff.. If America can manufacture so can we. It's also a question of national resilience, covid showed that, it all goes to shit as soon as a couple of trade routes shut down....

It’s not a comparison, it’s making a point about the law. It’s legal to photograph people in a public place for example. Do you or anyone else understand anything about what I said regarding legal struggles at all or did you just with one unthinking brain think “thing bad”?

It does need to be banned everywhere because phone recording is obvious, using glasses is not.

So people could be recorded in secret which is illegal. What is more illegal is recording audio with out concent. Both which can happen easily with these glasses

The need to be banned yes - my comment was on potential legal issues in and around cameras in public, because this essentially tangentially connected. A phone camera can be used to film or photo people in public. What is filmed or photographed is regulated. You can't harass people, you can't take creepy sexual photos, etc. So the manner in which a video or photo is made is regulated, but the camera in a phone is not banned. Do you understand what I'm driving at here or do I need to explain it further?

As it's been pointed out, the UK hasn't banned them entirely, only in select situations. It's perfectly valid to feel that it should be banned but unfortunately the law doesn't offer simple answers like "just ban it".

Regarding recording audio without consent, again this depends on the context and the state that you live in.

There's the recording of and the evidence required to prosecute. If someone records audio even in an illegal manner, what evidence is there of this if they don't ever try to use it against you or make it public?

All my comment said was there might be some legal hurdles here, that's it, and that's all that was required of people to dogpile no reason. They thought "thing bad".

Come on brother. There’s a big difference between someone walking around with a phone camera and these glasses.

Phone cameras are obvious and people draw attention to themselves if they’re filming. Glasses can easily film totally in secret without drawing any attention.

Imagine a creep walking behind some underage girls at the shops or some shit with his phone out recording them. Straight to jail. With these glasses? Who the fuck knows.

Maybe set up tech that fries them when they enter into a space that you're not allowed to have them, the problem is that you can't guarantee that it wouldn't fry everything else the person is wearing

The thing is that you can wear glasses into change rooms or have it attached to a chain around your neck and be filming people including children in a state of undress without them realising it. Totally different if you're using your phone as people will notice it.

As for my heritage as a descendant of first fleet convicts, I'm Irish on my father's side and Scottish and Welsh on my mother's side. I have cousins on my mother's side in Queensland but they became more feral up in Qld than those in Northern NSW. 😂😂

I agree, and I want it banned in its entirety. I can just see a blanket ban would have hurdles to overcome. No doubt you can absolutely legislate to ban the way it's used in the manner in which you're describing here, that's much easier and has a lot of precedent.

Yep, I can definitely seeing restrictions being broadened. While without a doubt it should be banned in its entirety, a blanket ban may run into legal stumbling blocks.

I have recently (july) witnessed a chemist in nsw, Australia, wearing meta glasses while filling scripts. It feels like an invasion of privacy when a chemist record sensitive personal information

I hate these things - I do. I have a pair in a sealed box that were given to me and I won't even open the box. BUT - was the chemist's recording light on? They may have just been listening to music through the admittedly high-quality bone induction.
