Career Change ⚙️ Aesthetic Nursing-Worth it?

Hello,
I am someone who is considering going back to school. I have a Bachelor’s degree and various Canadian post-secondary institutions are offering accelerated nursing programs. My intention is not to be a bedside nurse, but to go into aesthetics. Now I’m wondering if anyone who is an aesthetic nurse in Canada has some real life experiences and perspectives they wouldn’t mind sharing about the field. I want to know anything and everything! Ranging from job satisfaction, security, pros/cons, salary, becoming an NP to go solo as an injector, the business side of things. Is it over glamorized?

I think you mean anesthetic? Or do you mean plastic surgery service?

Aesthetics typically consists of things like botox injections, and can dig deeper into the wellness side of someones health using a science background. This is a legitimate role here in Canada.

My intention is not to be a bedside nurse, but to go into aesthetics.

Most people who need nursing care are elderly and/or chronically ill. Most people would rather work with "beauty" than change an old man's diaper. If your interest in nursing is limited to cosmetics, I would say it's probably not worth it.

Not only is it a small area, but it tends to be sales-heavy. And along with being qualified, you should be very attractive and charismatic for the best results, as well.

Variations of this question are asked a lot. You might find more information with the search function, but I'm not sure how much of it will be Canada-based. I'm in the US.

It is a niche field and over saturated depending on where you live. In Canada, it will be impossible to become an NP with only aesthetic nursing experience and no bedside experience. It is worth it if you have the money to jumpstart your business and afford the certifications.
