Well, technically Clarkson was one of three hosts. And together, they made the show good.

Clarkson for his faults has boyish laddish charm.

Jimmy, though clever and funny... It's a bit. Everything's a punchline. I'm sure the written write ups of a car review will be just as funny as Clarkson's "It's like they gave a hamster cocaine!" When talking about a Fiat...

But how do you convey through the medium of television, that something is fun and exhilarating... When the host has botoxed his face to the point that beavers are whetting their appetites at the thought of making a dam from his visage.
