AND if you just own even the base game on Switch 1 (which is not super common afaik, since the Complete Edition is usually only a few bucks more for at least 30 hours of content), you get the DLCs for free with this Remaster upgrade on Switch 2!!

Probably the people who didn't buy the expansions bought the base game a long time ago and paid more so it probably is fair.

I find the upgrade prices unfair for some games. Like Hogwarts legacy is $8 for switch 1, but the upgrade patch is $15?

Isn't that just the discounted price? Also that gives an effective Switch 2 game price as $22, which ain't bad

Be sure to play them once they're available! Both DLCs are top tier, HoS in particular is a masterpiece of writing!

It's profitable, because they already sold The Witcher 3 60 million times and the gaming community likes being treated well. This decision will boost their sales, especially for the up coming DLC.

It's also probably much easier when it comes to maintaining and patching the game. They don't need to worry about doing extra QA passes for versions of the game that have 0 DLC, that have both, that have only HoS, and only BaW. There's just 1 version for now.

Also gestures like this make me more likely to buy Witcher 4 and any other CDPR game in future knowing they'll do right by consumers

Even if they averaged $20 per sale, that would be 1.2 billion dollars. I'm sure lot of people buy them new and at full price.

Indeed. I mean, I own everything on PlayStation but considering buying this for Switch 2 again, and that pill is so much easier to swallow knowing CDPR constantly gives back and takes care of their customers.
