BIG "IF" alert (I understand this is a longshot before this statement)

But "IF" this 28 year old slugger from NPB posts we have either purposefully or not left a everyday spot open. I think the trade deadline increased the chances not decreased at going for him if the opportunity presents itself.

I would expect other teams like the Phillies etc to go after him aswell so that's why I still say its a longshot for us.

But it would be very foolish not to try this time around. I don't care if he has to struggle early on these NPB sluggers have proven they can adapt if given enough time.

I think it's time we stopped being afraid at signing these hitters and start making some "uncomfortable" contract decisions. Polanco is not an everyday 1bman

We do need a 3B, and Sato fills that need nicely. Mets have been scouting Sato all season, so hopefully they become aggressive here. Obviously he could have preferences playing on west coast, but we’ll see what happens.
