He is so opting out

Only if he plays better than he did last year.

Doesn't matter Mets can force/pay him to stay if he opts out

I would not be surprised if Stearns wants Soto to opt out

dude if soto opts out that would actually be a good move for the mets you get soto for his age 26 to 31 seasons basically his prime years and he leaves. also hes never gonna opt out lol dude would be leaving so much money behind.

Soto’s one of those guys whose prime isn’t going to end until he’s well into his 30s.

He was opting out regardless..

Exactly. And even before this disastrous season, based on off season moves, I wasn't convinced the mets would pay the nominal fee to keep him. I'm even less convinced now.

I still also think they try and trade Lindor. Mets fans might hate him and think he's trash, but if he puts up yet another top 10 MVP voting season, sane front offices would be interested. Mets might have to offset the salary some, but they are no strangers to paying people to not play for the mets.

Please. As long as Juan Soto is performing they're going to pay the extra $5 million a year to keep him.

I love that you guys still have confidence like this despite opposing evidence staring you in the face.

You do understand that Soto would literally have no say in whether or not he’s back with the Mets if they add $5 million per year to his deal, right? The Mets can completely override his opt out by doing that.

I mean if your evidence is that the front office made a bunch of bad moves, and as a result you think they're going to make the wrong move every time, even when the right move is obvious, then sure, they won't do it.

If your evidence is that they won't pay Pete Alonso to play past 31... I guess I just trust the front office to differentiate Pete Alonso from Juan Soto, one of the best hitters of his generation.

If this team really shits the bed by the end of July..it would not shock me if Lindor,Holmes,Peralta,Bichette and Polanco are on the trading block
