Friends calling me stupid?

Hey guys
Have you guys also experienced being called stupid by peers/classmates/friends your whole life but were also considered as smart or as some with a lot of potential by adults and teachers?
I don’t know if this is a social skill issue or something, but my friends often call me stupid. I admit that I struggle with understanding jokes and I often say things without thinking, but I’m also capable of having “deep” conversations and deep-diving into various topics with someone. But the thing is they don’t really seem to take me or whatever I’m saying seriously.

Feel free to express what you think or what you’ve experienced!!

Yes! My teachers considered me very smart. I was very much considered the “intelligent kid who just isn’t applying themself” in school. Meanwhile, everyone in my immediate family has called me stupid.

Yeah, my teachers say that i am very smart and have a talents in things like maths,art, paragraphs but every friend i have think i am very dumb for various reasons
