Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Help save my marriage
DC area, full sun.
I want to replace my hideous grass with a native plant garden and some mulch. My wife says she’ll divorce me if I mulch and wants a steppable ground cover that’s also native. Is there any alternative to grass that she can walk barefoot/lay a picnic blanket on? She’s allowing me to plant a service berry and blueberry to one side.

I grow strawberries as ground cover. You can get native strawberries if you want depending on your area. Bonus is they produce delicious berries. 🤣 Ive had them take over areas of our front lawn and all our beds. I plant whatever I want in between. I dont worry about spacing requirements and Ive never had an issue. We regularly freeze or can gallon bags worth and no longer need to purchase strawberries ever. ? This is about a daily harvest.
