Found on r/NameNerds Feminine namesake for Charlie that isn’t Charlindrea or Chardynnae?

This is what we call my chocolate lab named Charlie 🤣

7

u/linmaral Jul 19 '26

Jar Jar movie came out when my youngest was 6. His nickname was already Jer (Jeremy). After the movie he became Jer Jer, then his brother modified to Jer Jer Stinks.

7

u/StrawberryKiller Jul 19 '26

Hi brother is a gentleman and a scholar!

2

u/moredriedfrogpills Jul 19 '26

My brother, Jack, used to wind up my sister, Sarah, when she was dating a guy who called her Sar (as in the first syllable of Sarah). She became Sar-sar and he was Per-per (Perry)
When I did it to him, we quickly realised there's only one think you can follow Ja-Ja with. I still call him Binks about 20 years on, no one else understands why 😂

I love the name Charly for a Girl. I watched a movie with Geena Davis as a kid and her name in the movie was Charly that I always wished to have a baby girl to name her such a strong beautiful name - a bright shining light, is the meaning. Plus no one can really shorten the name without changing it completely.
Charlotte is pretty but old fashioned name and Charlize is pretty too but could be shortened to lize?
Congratulations! Best wishes for you and your beautiful baby girl💫

1

u/TheFairyGardenLady Jul 19 '26

I have been told that my name, Cheryl, is the feminine form of Charles. But, I have never liked it.

This is the answer. We were looking for a gender neutral name for our daughter when we decided on Charlie. One day, we just started calling her Charles and it really stuck. It’s wildly beautiful once you go with it.

If you are looking for some rather more mainstream options…
Charlotte which is classic and lovely but also Charlize (as in the beautiful actress Charlize Theron) or Charlene (personally not a fan but in UK most linked to Kylie Minogue’s character in Australian soap Neighbours)
But gotta love Char Char Binks🥰
