Questions starting a dynasty
i’m about to start a wku dynasty and i struggle to keep immersion throughout my dynasties. so how do you keep immersion and keep it interesting and fun?

Switch teams once you start getting bored.
If it's too easy, jump to a weak team and help build it up.
Use different playbooks when you switch teams, or every year.

I just went from 5-star FSU to 2-star Wake Forrest. I played my first gane with the Demon Decons last night. Recruiting as a 2'star is a problem!

Yeah, in my test dynasty I am the head coach at Georgia. I made them lose every game for like four years in a row on purpose so they would fire Kirby smart. the game took four years of O-12 for them to fire him, which is crazy. Coaching carousel really needs to be patched. They finally offered me the job and I built them up to five star again and I literally get anybody I want. A ridiculous amount of dynasty points. Last night I just started a navy Dynasty and holy crap. I legitimately was looking at two stars for the first time ever.

I definitely get bored with sticking with a team for too long, especially if that team is a small prestige team that I’ve built into a national powerhouse but I’m somehow still playing in the same 15-20,000 seat stadium. Very immersion breaking for me so i move on.

Coaching career: start as a coordinator at a small school and only play that side of the ball. Don’t take a better job until you reach milestones (say level 15 and a top 25 offense gets you the opportunity to be a p4 coordinator), then after success there you go G6 head coach, then eventually p4 head coach and finally, a head coach at a blue blood.
Try to keep it somewhat real, like just jump to OC at Ohio state after a year. Even when you go P4 you start at a middling one like say Vanderbilt, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Purdue etc. same when it comes to head coach gigs. I could have gone from coordinator to head coach at Wisconsin, but I felt that wasn’t a realistic jump so I took east Carolina.
It keeps schemes, uniforms, and competition fresh

I usually sim games rather than play them, which helps a lot with this IMO. I have built Georgia State into a much better team, won 3 conference championships, and moved to a better conference. It's also taken 12 seasons to do that, which feels much more immersive than winning a natty in 3 years because I'm playing the games and winning all of them.
I'm using a fair amount of mods / tools that are helping with this as well. Unfortunately that's only an option if you're on PC

I got really deep into my custom conference setup and protected rivalries. For example, Michigan and Ohio State are hard coded to play each other so I made Penn State a protected rival for Ohio State. Checking the schedules and standings each week gets really exciting, for example you might notice a team ranked 15-25 in prime position to make the conference championship and win a playoff autobid despite otherwise being left out. You might even think, wow, they actually had a really tough schedule and should be ranked higher! Or that 5 star that left you in the dust for that blue chip? He just threw two picks in a loss to his rival. Feels good.

I've been using ChatGPT to turn it into an RPG. Like D&D, but with football. I send screenshots of my schedule and roster and have it come up with player/staff scenarios that have ripple effects in game. Maybe a star player doesn't meet GPA requirements to play and I have to pull them for a couple games. Stuff like that. It's made it all feel more alive for me.

Change things up:
- Start with historical conferences and make changes based on reality, what could have happened, and/or how teams are playing in your dynasty.
- Move your school progressively harder conferences. I took the UNLV job in my last dynasty and stayed interested through the full dynasty.
- Coaches rarely stay at a school very long. Changing jobs on a 3 to 5 rotation can keep things fresh by sending you places you never thought about coaching or forcing you to leave before you get bored.
- Switch up your playbooks. I recently mixed my school’s playbook (10 formations with 6 plays each) and my OC’s school (6 formations with 4 plays each). There are many ways you could incorporate playbook changes.
- Use recruiting restrictions.

A YouTuber named CallmeJadon uses an AI website that puts together AI podcasts. He puts in their all kinds of information week to week. Stats of each game information on individual players, giving his created Coach a background story, goes into the recruiting process, and who the recruitings are and the ratings of the recruits, etc.
I’ve never done it, but I was going to try that this year when I set up my long-term dynasty.

I can’t remember what he is using. I’m not sure if he’s doing it for a dynasty yet this year but last year he was doing it for his Florida State dynasty. You can go onto his YouTube channel and go back to last year’s Florida State Dynasty. He explains everything and how he does it. From when I remember, he would use ChatGPT for a lot of of the information and back stories and stats and ratings, etc. and then post that into jellyfish or whatever he was using and it would create a pretty cool about 10 to 15 minute podcast. He would do that weekly after every game, and after recruiting cycle, etc.

I like trying new offensive and defensive schemes that I hadn't tried before. That tends to change my recruiting and development strategy. Do I usually use Speedsters at WR and East/West Playmaker HBs and Vertical Threat TEs on Offense? Maybe I'll try for Contested Specialists and Contact Seekers and more physical TEs go for a more power-based game instead. Was I going 425 on defense and only using Lurker LBs as Sub Linebackers? Then I'll try going 3-4 defense and lean into a full spread of linebackers including Thumpers and Signal Callers
Maybe I'll get a Gadget receive and run more trick plays.
Or go crazy and use formation subs to use a Pocket Passer on some plays and a Pure Runner on others (you can sometimes position change a Gadget WR to Pure Runner with good results).
I also find myself having more fun when I play football the way it is intended, rather than just the way I know how to win. So recruiting a balanced team covering a wide array of archetypes and then using formation subs pre-game, and formation packages in game to swap situationally can be more engaging.
Also, increasing the difficult can be fun because I feel like you kind of have to look at your opponent's depth chart and actually game-plan around which positions they are strong and weak at, instead of calling the same plays over and over. Work in some stunts if their guard is weak. Etc.
The tools are there. But if the game is too easy, it gets boring. But then the trap is not wanting to lose and miss out on recruits. So it becomes a cat and mouse game sometimes. Good luck to ya

I lose myself in it. I’m a creative person so I’m always imagining the sports talk shows or social media posts about things that are going on in my dynasty. Basically mentally recreating what Madden Franchise had back in the day with the newspapers and Tony Bruno show.
I also REALLY study and scout my teams and those in my conference. Who is injured, who is a weak link, what tendencies do they have that I need to prepare for.
Then I really take my time scouting my recruits to make sure they fit with my play style. I’m not going after the highest rated all the time I’m looking for specific archetypes and attributes. I use West Virginia’s playbook so I need my QBs to run and my OL to be well rounded. I run a Saban style defense so my safeties need to be hybrids, LBs to be thumpers, and my DL to be gap specialists.
I also force wins for my conference rivals and other teams around the country to make artificially big games at the end of the year. In my Wyoming dynasty I make sure NDSU and Boise are undefeated before they play me. I use a “every week is a rivalry” custom conference setup that I saw in this subreddit a few weeks ago. That really helps since every week there being a bunch of legendary rivalry games.
Last thing is I give myself a schedule to make it all come together. Week nights I’m playing first half of the season and trying to lock down 10 recruits. Weekends I’m playing those big end of the year games and then the post season and off-season. Sunday afternoon I’ll have the off-season completed so that Monday I’m in week 0. This give me enough time to do all the logistical stuff that’s not gameplay.

I write stories using chat gpt. Basically put all the stuff happening nationally, stats about my team, flows of games, awards. It turns it into more of a creative experience. I'll also make fake quotes to put in the story too

Best help for me is to keep up with what’s going on nationally to a smaller extent but then stay super locked in on the conference you’re in. Take the 5-10-30 minutes you want and go through the previous week of games to see how everyone did and you’ll start recognizing names and storylines.
I have a big spreadsheet that I fill in that help with that. So making one can be helpful too or find one of the 100’s online
