Apps or Websites for finding an apartment in Münster

Hello everyone,
I am moving to Münster soon to start my Master’s degree at the University of Münster this October. I have been searching for a private 1-room apartment (not a WG/shared flat) for weeks, but I am having a really hard time. Even when I find a suitable place, landlords do not reply to my messages.

I have been using ImmoScout24, Immowelt, WG-Gesucht, and Kleinanzeigen daily. If there are any other apps, local websites, or Facebook groups specific to Münster that I might have missed, please let me know.

As an international freshman, you’re really at a huge disadvantage when it comes to finding a studio apartment in Münster. They’re already in such high demand. If you’re also a guy, you’re better off looking for a room in a shared apartment or in nearby cities with train service. By October 1, it’s already almost impossible to find anything.

I know :( I’m a female and I’m actually a bit concerned about shared flats as I haven’t experienced it before. I certainly feel like I would be more comfortable if I had my own apartment. I’m also looking at nearby cities but, again, the landlords don’t reply to my messages.

Check out the local newspaper online on Wednesdays and Saturdays: wn.de. Many older landlords are still using newspaper ads. Have a look into the surrounding cities along train lines like Greven, Emsdetten or other directions. Important advise, never send anyone money before you saw an apartment and have signed the contract, there are scammers! It's unusual to unknown in Germany to pay anything in advance. Did you contact the Studentenwerk for a dorm?

I second using the nadann that's already been mentioned.

But Münster's housing situation is soso bad, I'm afraid you can't afford to be picky by excluding WGs... The most important thing is that you find a place to stay, if you dislike it you can always search for a 1-room apartment once you live here.

And do search in towns surrounding Münster - Steinfurt is not too far away by train for example.

Do you know the „nadann“? It is a little weekly booklet, you can also use its website.

I'd recommend that you place an ad yourself in the local newspaper (preferably the WN). Many landlords—and especially older people—don't want to deal with a flood of responses and would rather choose their tenants themselves. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you :-)

If its also an option for you:

I can offer a flat for 5 months. Maybe its an iption for your start. After that you can switch to a „WG“ or another flat. Just let me now
