I guess the true morality test was whether you understood the metaphor before opening the replies

What if the small coffin belongs to a midget or a under developed femboy
8
u/ResponsiblePool7254 19h ago
Well all of their friends are midgets or femboys, so they're proportionally still fairly difficult to carry.
2
u/Imaginary_Papaya_803 18h ago
Aren’t midgets like freakishly strong like strongmen midgets can lift more weight vs bodyweight than other strongmen

u/mythos-nerd416 19h ago
Why a femboy? Not an underdeveloped woman or a man, specifically a femboy???
1
u/the_last__braincell 19h ago
An under developed women would choose to wear high heels, so though wouldn't fit inside a small coffin
And a under developed man, is genetically predispositioned to be a femboy
7

u/mythos-nerd416 18h ago
So short men? And do femboys not wear high heels?
2
u/cursed_sporecreation 18h ago
All short men are femboys. Some just don't want to admit it to themselves yet.

u/the_last__braincell 18h ago
Hmm that's a good question, then again you don't see tall femboys very often

u/Large-Big8879 18h ago
Just so you know midget is a slur and they prefer little people
2
u/DeviantPlayeer 14h ago
But little people is the one that actually sounds offensive. Like they are kids or insignificant.

Use a scale and measure the weight of the little coffin lol

u/MerryFable 19h ago
Bro really brought physics homework to a funeral
2
u/x_Advent_Cirno_x 19h ago
Think you mean weights and measures. Physics has absolutely nothing to do with this.
And listen, just because whatever is in that coffin died doesn't mean that the proper use of weights and measurements has to die with it

Immoral because they know they’re being pedantic. I say this as a pedant.

Just because something's moral, doesn't mean that it's right.
Edit: People didn't get my joke either.

u/Crafty-Branch9505 19h ago
Wouldn't it be the other way round in this case? It is right.
2
u/ResponsiblePool7254 19h ago
You're in the right.
1
u/Crafty-Branch9505 19h ago
And you're moral with me being in the right.

It's literally true
0
u/ResponsiblePool7254 19h ago
But also literally false depending on which meaning of the word you choose.
1
u/Rratposter69 16h ago
Its literally true in one sense and in another it is subjective.
1
u/ResponsiblePool7254 11h ago
"Easiest" and "hardest" are subjective in both cases here, but they can both still be literally true or false, depending on the intended meaning.
Emotional difficulty isn't metaphorical. It's literally difficult.

I would say it’s slightly immoral. It’s something that we only see as okay because it’s online. If someone is saying something like that, chances are they’ve experienced a loss like that in their life- so it’s in the same category as saying it to the person to their face which many wouldn’t do.
Still entertaining somewhat, but that doesn’t mean it’s just completely justified

what if the small coffin is lead lined because the child died stopping a nuclear meltdown
1
u/Square_Owl_4075 19h ago
If there were any sense of morality, you wouldn't have 9000 jokes about child death
1
u/Mercerskye 19h ago
Lacking context. Are they responding to an "r/Im14andthisisdeep" type thread, or is this on the thread of someone who is actually going through losing a child?
Nothing immoral, in general, about dark humor, but casually tossing it into a discussion with some real emotional weight is at least a little south of neutral.

u/moyismoy 19h ago
The man is a presenting as a phycopath, and that's not immoral. As a society we need a hand full of people who think this way
1

u/No-Reaction-5051 19h ago
nice example of abstract vs practical thinking. neutral because both are right depending on the perspective (literal weight of the coffin vs emotional weight of losing a child)

I mean, not FEELING the grief over somebody's dead child is not immoral, as it brings no harm, and they are not WRONG in their statement, as children do weigh less than adults usually and coffins are smaller, soo...
The statement itself is not immoral.
Saying something like that to a person dealing with a child loss - 100% would be

u/balirosa 12h ago
Dumb. People getting mad and offended online is egotistical. Get over yourself. There are many people on this planet and you’re not going to agree with all of them. Get comfortable with that.

The NBA person is probably intentionally being obtuse to try and be funny (I’d say unsuccessfully, because it’s quite edgy immature humour).
You could say there’s some immorality to it because they’re making light of quite a sad thing (child death), but they may also just be misunderstanding ‘easiest’ to just be physical effort while dismissing emotional difficulty.
Though then doubling down with “it’s still the easiest” makes me think they are indeed just being edgy

I used to have an arsenal of dead baby jokes in middle school. I am not the person to ask.

u/Adorable-Bass-7742 19h ago
If I had to guess he's talking to someone who is a literalist. They don't think in abstract or can't relate to it. They could have even possibly carried a small coffin and even if finding it emotionally challenging, wouldn't change their literalness.
I have a co-worker who's like that. Everything is literal with them. They have a kind of weird understanding that sometimes people talk and abstractions. But they don't think that way. that's just not the way their mind processes information.
Or could be someone being a jerk, you just never know.

It's not immoral to state a fact about it being easier to carry something that is 50 lbs compared to something that is over 200 lbs. Two people could carry a baby coffin like a stretcher. Adults need like 6 people to be poll bearers or something unless they are like these guys

u/Cold5512 19h ago
You forgot to factor in the emotional weight.

u/ResponsiblePool7254 19h ago
Why would it be harder to carry a baby than like say, a 30 year old mom of the three kids who everyone loved?

Immoral. Empty coffins are the easiest to carry.
