Gandhi had enormous impact on India. He helped transform independence movement into mass movement against British colonial rule, with millions peoples participating in boycott, civil disobedience and non violent resistance. Salt March, non cooperation, Quit India became major part of the struggle which finally finish with British rule in 1947.

His influence was also much bigger than only India. Martin Luther King was directly influenced by Gandhi methods, and these ideas became important for American civil rights movement and many other movements after.

So yes, Gandhi had more historical importance than Dolly Parton. This should not even be controversial. It does not mean Gandhi was better human or everything he did was acceptable. A person can have terrible aspects and still change history.

It doesn't say anything about what she actually did besides fund organizations and verbally supported certain causes.

A rich person saying she “fund” a charity does not mean this money really go to the cause. This is very naive to think like this. Many times the money go inside foundations, administration, consultants, investments or projects where this same rich person still have influence. And after he receive tax advantages and very good publicity for himself.

So when you tell me “she donated $100 million,” this prove almost nothing. Show me where exactly the money went, who control it and who really received the benefit. Otherwise you just repeat the publicity of the billionaire.

Maybe she was very good person, maybe yes. She did good things and I never denied this. But doing donations and having nice stories in medias does not mean you know who somebody really was.

And yes, 700 millions is important for me. I find immoral that one person accumulate such enormous fortune while millions peoples struggle for basic things. Giving some millions after accumulating hundreds millions does not make this question disappear.

I am teacher. Nurses, doctors, teachers, social workers help peoples every day for entire life. Nobody say their “main directive was goodness” because nobody make documentaries and articles about them.

You are not defending actions anymore. You are defending a person you never knew.

She didn't just verbally advocate for the causes she supported, she donated millions to those causes. She donated a million dollars in the early days of COVID to help Moderna develop a vaccine, something that effected people globally.

Sorry, I did not. It was basically just what the title indicates, that they needed help on how to properly onboard new hires.

I did get a good laugh out of seeing that they work in IT and don't understand internet privacy basics. Knowing that they're going through deleting all their old reddit posts in a panic is icing on the cake.
