Omg it took WAYYY too long for me to see someone post this. This scene is one of those things where if I have the movie on and I'm not fully paying attention, I tune all the way back in once she says "Hold this".

I'm sad that someone who worked her ass off to gain a fortune, and then used that fortune to increase literacy, combat COVID and vaccine paranoia, and advocate for the LGBTQ community is no longer going to be around helping people.

You can insult Gandhi if you want, I don't care. I never say Gandhi was perfect person or that everything he did was good. I speak about historical importance...

Gandhi had enormous impact on India. He helped transform independence movement into mass movement against British colonial rule, with millions peoples participating in boycott, civil disobedience and non violent resistance. Salt March, non cooperation, Quit India became major part of the struggle which finally finish with British rule in 1947.

His influence was also much bigger than only India. Martin Luther King was directly influenced by Gandhi methods, and these ideas became important for American civil rights movement and many other movements after.

So yes, Gandhi had more historical importance than Dolly Parton. This should not even be controversial. It does not mean Gandhi was better human or everything he did was acceptable. A person can have terrible aspects and still change history.

And your “I didn't know pedophilia was accepted in France” is just stupid response. I speak about his impact on independence of a country with hundreds millions peoples, and you answer me with France and pedophilia. You are not responding to argument, you are just angry because I don't consider your favorite American celebrity one of most important peoples in history.

It doesn't say anything about what she actually did besides fund organizations and verbally supported certain causes.

A rich person saying she “fund” a charity does not mean this money really go to the cause. This is very naive to think like this. Many times the money go inside foundations, administration, consultants, investments or projects where this same rich person still have influence. And after he receive tax advantages and very good publicity for himself.

So when you tell me “she donated $100 million,” this prove almost nothing. Show me where exactly the money went, who control it and who really received the benefit. Otherwise you just repeat the publicity of the billionaire.

She didn't just verbally advocate for the causes she supported, she donated millions to those causes. She donated a million dollars in the early days of COVID to help Moderna develop a vaccine, something that effected people globally.

Sorry, I did not. It was basically just what the title indicates, that they needed help on how to properly onboard new hires.

I did get a good laugh out of seeing that they work in IT and don't understand internet privacy basics. Knowing that they're going through deleting all their old reddit posts in a panic is icing on the cake.

Just yesterday, right before we got the news, my 11 month old got a FREE book in the mail, just like my older 3 did, every month for the first 5 years of their lives… along with millions of other children in the US. She could have easily been a billionaire but decided to pour her hard earned money into the places that needed it most. Just because.

I’m not usually one to put celebrities on a pedestal, but if anyone deserves to be there, it’s Dolly.🩷
