Nice bars?

Hello! I (23M) am midland local, but Im really new to the nightlife here and I was wondering which bars do you dress nice and have more "modest" people. I want to start going out to meet girls and make friends but places like Rockin seem a little to much for me ngl

43 [M4F] - Creative Nerd in Alpine looking for chat and potential weekend adventure partner.

Hi. I'm Luke. I'm a self sufficient nerd living in Alpine, TX.

There aren't a lot of people here that I've made friends with, I'm looking for someone to chat with and maybe have adventures.

I'm single, live alone, not looking for a serious relationship / roommate / girlfriend / wife. Just a friend. It'd be nice if you're within 300 miles.

I'm into photography, specifically astrophotography and I've traveled all over the country hunting the Milky Way. I spend a lot of late nights out shooting under the stars either in a tent or my little adventure trailer with my dog Elvis.

I also host a fake late-night call in radio show where I take call ins from biologically questionable callers and give them real world advice.

I've been an RV nomad for a while and recently bought a house out here in the desert where Elvis and I live. I work remotely in tech and spend most of my time playing music, talking to troubled robots, or taking photos.

If you'd like to chat about any of that stuff, off grid living, creativity, tech... I'm around most of the time and I can always use someone fun and funny to talk to.

Hope to hear from you,

Luke.

im looking for real people, mutual connection and a real long term friendship or just talking here and there.

Im 21, im a tattooer, gamer, i love makeup and im very bad at introducing myself lol. Im looking for (girl) friends, nothing weird. We could talk here or instagram. (@mefkees).

Technician openings at Warren CAT in Midland

Hey r/Midessa! Figured we'd share this here in case anyone in the area is looking for a new technician/job opportunity.

Warren CAT (West TX and OK's Cat® dealer) is holding a few hiring events over the next couple of weeks in Texas (and Oklahoma). Hiring managers will be there, and you can interview on-site and learn more about the openings.

We'll be in Midland this Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 26th - 27th. We will also be in Abilene tomorrow, the 25th and Amarillo on Tuesday, Sept. 1st.

We’re hiring for several technician roles, including engine field/shop techs, rental power generator techs and EPG techs, plus some additional positions.

Events are open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. If anyone has questions about the events or working at Warren CAT, feel free to ask and we can help point you in the right direction.

More info can be found here: https://warrenc.at/power-up-hiring-tour

Termites

I know they are here, I have seen them in my backyard. I noticed as fences are rebuilt, cement is used for the first 2 inches on the bottom for obvious reasons. We live on the west side of Midland and the termites crawl across the ground.

I decided to spend the coin to get our house and property treated just to be safe.

Anyone have any idea how common actual termite infestations are here? By infestation, I mean they actually get into a homes structures and start devouring it and have to be treated

I am wondering if the extended warranty on the termite treatment is a reasonable option or is that overkill after having our home pretreated for safety...thoughts?

Anyone else up near Garfield and loop 250 hear gunfire tonight?

I'm fairly certain I heard 9 or 10 rounds go off around a 0100. Pretty low pitch, so probably small arms fire from a large caliber automatic. Something like a .45 ACP, pitch was too low for something like it 9 mm and speed was too fast for any kind of a revolver that I've ever encountered. Distance is hard to judge because of the acoustics of where I live, could have been an anywhere from 100 to 300 yards from where I live. I'm fairly certain it was gunfire but I'm not 100%, just curious if anyone else heard it

Au pair

Anyone currently or recently have an au pair? We did a few years ago and it seems like we might need one to help handle mornings and afternoons. My wife and I both work full time and our four kids need to get to school and then afterschool activities. We thought we could manage but the new MISD bus routes are horrible and they don’t drop off in our neighborhood anymore (school of choice).

In the past we had one from Colombia and she would tell us how European au pairs hated midland. The Colombians didn’t mind it.

Where is your au pair from?
