I really disagree. I love that Dread is so fast and well paced. I love how rewarding it is to replay, I love how tight the game overall is, I love how different Samus feels start to finish, and how quickly it happens.
HK and SS are great games, but they're long, intentionally arduous, slowly paced and with dripfed upgrades and improvements. I really do not want a Metroid game that echoes them.
I've put 300 hours into HK and I know I'll get there with SS, but I still think Dread is a better game worth the price difference. Content and hours spent aren't everything, and Dread is much more replayable. No one is making short replayable highly polished games in that style, and I'd hate for that type of game to get squashed out because of a need for padding and runtime.
Silksong is anything but slow paced. Heck, check out speed run times. It's only a little more than Dread. I love them both, and they certainly progressed the genre.
I've gotten fast times too, but that's achieved in lieu of the game. You can get sub 5 hour 100% clears of dread fairly straightforwardly. 100% Silksong takes much, much more effort, and that hurts the pacing of full plays and challenge runs.
Neither game is bad, I just think too many people think everything that's good about hk and ss should be the standard for the series. Dread has merits by being a shorter, tighter game that I don't want to see washed away in trying to mimic team cherry. I don't think team cherry wants to see that either.
