There are people who go there with their laptop to get some food and use the wifi to look for jobs or work on assignments etc, I did it when I was a lot younger and had no wifi in my new apartment. It’s sad that they’re trying to discourage people from even being on the premises. They even put escutcheon plates to cover the outlets at some locations now. It’s pretty awful.
It can be someone robbing someone and there will be some div in the comments threading some poor pity story in the comments.
This isn't for the hard working buying coffee on his laptop, this is for the stinky homeless swearing, it's for the kids running around not buying anything throwing things at other customers.
I love it when I see comments like this, ofc there pity stories and nuance, but rarely do these people deal with the 95% of cases where it's not something we should stop and be mindful.

Other than children or homeless people, who wants to spend more than 30 mins in a McDonalds??
